It started as a practical joke among friends, a way for superstar Brad Pitt and acclaimed director David Fincher to playfully mess with their inner circle on New Year’s Eve as the year turned to 2000. But the elaborate prank, involving staged Y2K chaos and fake federales with automatic weapons, ultimately left some psychological scars.
What Did Brad Pitt and David Fincher’s Prank Entail? Brad Pitt on Between Two Ferns
As per Cracked, on December 31, 1999, Brad Pitt and David Fincher gathered friends at a secluded Mexican resort to celebrate the millennium. But when the clocks struck midnight, instead of toasting champagne, the power and phones suddenly cut out, plunging the party into darkness. Moments later, the lights flipped back on as “government troops,” wielding Ak-47s, burst in to arrest one of Pitt’s friends, Mark Gervitz, on fabricated drug charges.

Rufus Wainwright won’t hit age 50 until July 22, technically, but he started the festivities a few days early with “Fifty Isn’t the End,” a three-hour show at Long Island’s East End that was a tribute to Wainwright’s career, his family lineage and, inadvertently, some of the other children of famous musicians who happen to be among his pals.
With a lineup that included Jimmy Fallon, comic Tig Notaro, Laurie Anderson and members of Wainwright’s family, including his sister Martha and his father Loudon III, the show...

The recent deluge of top-tier genre fare emerging from Thailand has been a joyous sight to behold for horror fanatics as the country has positioned itself quite nicely in the past years as a major player in the market. From the found-footage supernatural nightmare in The Medium, ghost movies in Inhuman Kiss, Cracked, and Ghost Lab to the giant monster throwback Leio, the country's output has allowed them to rise significantly in the crowded Asian scene with plenty looking for Japan, South Korea, and to a lesser extent Indonesia and China for their film output. Now, fresh on the heels of his recent hit The Maid, Lee Thongkham teams up with Aqing Xu for a new monster movie called The Lake which is now available through Epic Pictures.

"Do you want to see what's underneath?" Film Movement has revealed a new US trailer for a Thai horror film titled Cracked, from a filmmaker named Surapong "Top" Ploensang. This already opened in Thailand last year, along with other Southeast Asian countries, but is just now making its way over to America with a release set for in 2023. Thai actress / model Chayanit Chansangavej plays Ruja, who returns to Thailand from New York with her young daughter Rachel to settle her late father's estate. She inherits a painting from her father and hires Tim, an art restorer to repair it, but they don't know that this invaluable art came with invaluable horror. The film also stars Nichkhun, Nutthatcha Padovan, and Byron Bishop. This looks legit terrifying, with some scary af shots in this trailer. The paintings are also suitably unsettling, which is important for this kind of film. This horror is...

The theory had been floating around the fan community for a while, and the earliest online evidence may be a 2013 meme posted on the website 9Gag: Not only was E.T., the title creature from Steven Spielberg's 1982 hit "E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial" a creature from the "Star Wars" universe, but he was an embodiment of the Dark Side of the Force. E.T. was a Sith Lord.
Theories about E.T.'s place in the "Star Wars" universe began when sharp-eyed theatergoers first spotted members of E.T.'s species -- down in the lower left of the frame -- sitting in the galactic senate in a scene from "Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace." While surely intended as a cute visual reference, fans immediately began to speculate connections between "Star Wars" and "E.T." The logic was simple: E.T. comes from a galaxy far, far away.

For its list of new releases of February 2022, HBO Max is bringing back one of its biggest original series.
The Ridley Scott-directed sci-fi epic Raised by Wolves helped launch HBO Max back in 2020 and now it’s finally back for another season. Raised by Wolves season 2 premieres with three episodes on Feb. 3. This season will continue the conflict between future atheists and theists on a remote planet, while two androids raise some kids.
February 2022 also sees the end of another, more recent HBO Max hit. Peacemaker airs its finale on Feb. 17. Thankfully that same day sees the premiere of another exciting original. Dream Raider is a Mandarin-language sci-fi thriller that carries some big Inception vibes.
There aren’t many original movies of note this month, but there are a lot of recent hits coming to HBO Max as library titles. Nightmare Alley arrives on Feb. 1, followed by The Many Saints of Newark on Feb.

Sometimes it’s psychological. Sometimes it’s visceral. It can be a masked killer’s twisted pastime. A labyrinth our poor heroes must find their way out of. Perhaps a nasty round of torture by the Big Bad. Whatever it is, the sick feeling of impending doom overcomes us as we realize the characters might not make it out alive. Sometimes they can think their way through. Sometimes they can fight. But when the exits are closed and the madman decides to get creative, all bets are off.

After locking lips at the end of the pilot, Andrew and Zelda must now deal with a morning after of sorts as Episode 2 (airing this Thursday at 9:30/8:30c on NBC) picks up the very next day. And there’s a bit of a hiccup.
“He was supposed to go out on a date with someone else,” star Cristin Milioti teases.

One of the most enduring genres in television is the buddy cop drama, often benefiting from the comedic and/or dramatic tension caused by the disparate characters' interactions. Reelz's police-drama Cracked is no exception, even if it offers a new twist on the genre.
Currently airing its second season, Detective Aidan Black (David Sutcliffe) has a new partner in Dr. Clara Malone (Brooke Nevin), a psychiatrist that helps Black through his post-traumatic stress disorder while they solve cases for the newly-formed Psych Crimes and Crisis Unit. A cop and a psychiatrist are an unusual pairing for a police drama, which got us thinking: what are the oddest TV detective duos of all time? Check out our Top Ten.

ReelzChannel's crime drama Cracked, which just debuted its second season earlier this month, has received 3 nominations from the Canadian Screen Awards. Besides nominations for Best Original Musical Score and Best Direction for Bruce McDonald (Pontypool), actor Rick Roberts also received a nomination for his guest role as a grieving father in the episode "How the Light Gets In."
Roberts wasn't the only actor to get a nod, however, as Cracked star David Sutcliffe earned a nod for Best Actor in a Leading Role for his performance as Detective Aidan Black, a seasoned Swat officer who transfers to the Psych Crimes and Crisis Unit after showing signs of post-traumatic stress disorder. Teamed with psychiatrist psychiatrist Dr. Daniella Ridley (Stefanie von Pfetten) — or with Dr. Clara Malone (Brooke Nevin) as he is in Season 2 — Black investigates strange and bizarre crimes that often come with emotionally disturbed criminals.

When the second season of our popular crime drama Cracked premiers January 6th, psychologically "cracked" (not broken) Detective Aidan Black (David Sutcliffe, Private Practice) will be paired with a new psychiatrist, Dr. Clara Malone (Brooke Nevin, Alter Egos), replacing Psych Crimes liaison Dr. Daniella Ridley (Stefanie von Pfetten, Seeds of Destruction). Changing a major character between seasons may seem like a pretty risky maneuver for a fledgling show, but we’re very excited about the energy and emotion Nevin brings to the cast. Besides, it wouldn’t be the first time that it’s happened on a popular series. Here’s our list of the more memorable actress replacements and character changes on TV.

In the surprising Canadian hit series Cracked, a team of police detectives are paired up a psychiatrist and a psychiatric nurse in a special Psych Crimes & Crisis Unit to help solve crimes where both victims and/or perpetrators may exhibit mental and emotional issues. In our modern world of increasing stressors and people who have hit their limits and begin to “crack”, it is essential that law enforcement understand that not all crimes are so easily put into defined categories and learn to navigate a world where people need more than just a gun and a shield to protect them and solve crimes. In a recent exclusive interview, co-star Luisa D’Oliveira talked about some of the unique challenges and rewards in portraying a detective assigned to this special task force.

Perfecting the art of the puppy-dog eyes can be an effective way to get what you want, or in the case of our featured male actors, an effective way to win over a majority of the female (and probably male) population. Invented by our loyal furry friends (who know exactly what they're doing), it is almost impossible for one to avoid those wide dramatic eyes. Be it your furry pal asking for forgiveness after destroying the rug, or your significant other trying to persuade you to do something you'd really rather not, it is inevitable that one look will convince you to do almost anything for those taking advantage of it. Cracked starring David Sutcliffe had us won over as soon as Sutcliffe appeared on screen as Detective Aidan Black. The series itself is an intense, action-filled emotional ride that we can’t get enough of. Paired with Black’s heroism,...

Samantha Mathis has been cast in AMC‘s pilot Line Of Sight, from creator Blake Masters and director Jonathan Demme. It tells the story of Lewis Bernt (David Morrissey), a National Transportation Safety Board investigator who survives a mysterious plane crash, bringing him on an emotionally disorienting quest to discover the accident’s cause. Mathis, repped by Paradigm and the Schiff Co, will play Tony’s (Kai Lennox) wife. She comes off a recurring role on CBS’ breakout Under The Dome. Canadian actress Natalie Brown (Being Human) has booked the FX pilot The Strain, directed by Guillermo del Toro. It tells the story of Dr. Ephraim Goodweather (Corey Stoll), the head of the Centers for Disease Control Canary Team who are called upon to investigate a mysterious viral outbreak with hallmarks of an ancient and evil strain of vampirism. Following two fatal shootings last year Detective Black has returned to duty. However, after suffering a very public break down in uniform, he is reassigned from his beloved Team Seven Etf squad to the new Psych Crimes and Crisis Unit, and partnered with Forensic Psychiatrist Dr. Daniella Ridley. Black must work out how to trust his new partner, who doesn't even have a gun, while dealing with symptoms of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (Ptsd) and a break-up from long-term girlfriend and colleague, Liz Liette. Can he learn to get passed these and still be able to do his job? After all he’s not broken, yet, he’s… Cracked.

The Psych Crimes and Crisis Unit was Dr. Daniella Ridley's initiative. She helped design the unit with Inspector Caligra resulting in her leaving her position at St. Stephens Hospital, and a dysfunctional relationship with the Chief of Psychiatry, Dr. Sean McCray. Little did she know that Caligra would ask her to keep an eye on Aidan, an idea which makes the serene and self-assured Daniella uneasy. Although she may have more than one secret of her own, patients trust her and witnesses open up to her. Her struggle is that she's a perfectionist, and psychiatry is an inexact science.
Daniella Ridley is played by Stefanie von Pfetten.

Can you believe it's almost winter? One of the telltale signs -- aside from the Christmas lights, holiday music and bitter, brutal cold -- is when networks begin to promote their midseason shows. That's what CBC did Tuesday at a special event on the set of "George Stroumboulopoulos Tonight." And so it begins...
Unlike the spectacle we saw at the public broadcaster's fall upfronts, the presentation for the midseason schedule was much more subdued, but that doesn't mean it was any less extravagant. The media milled around with the talent, and it was a little unnerving sitting behind Rick Mercer, new "Best Recipes Ever" host Christine Tizzard, beside the cast of "Mr. D," and across from David Sutcliffe (Rory's dad! Oh, and the star of the upcoming "Cracked") and Murdoch himself, Yannick Bisson. But that's CBC's charm, showcasing the best and brightest stars while making content key.

The demise of the CBC has always been a source of amusement. Hardy har har. This year, however, the Canadian broadcaster is in on the joke. Sure, it may have cancelled ratings hit Battle of the Blades -- along with Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy!, but it clearly had no choice. Blades was too expensive to produce, while the rights to the game shows were equally costly.
During last week's upfront presentation, Kirstine Stewart, executive vice-president of English services, said the CBC was "moving forward" -- and she wasn't kidding. The broadcaster will continue to do what it's always done -- support 100 per cent Canadian content while entertaining its loyal fans; just in a less extravagant way (unlike this year's season preview, which was the biggest I've ever seen from the network).
