- Michael Evans: [narrating] That's my dad.
- Alex Evans: Hey, Mike, you and Faith better hurry up. You're gonna be late.
- Michael Evans: [narrating] He's a pastor, which means... well, it means all kind of things, but right now it means that we're new to town.
- Michael Evans: No offense, Coach, but I just... I really don't think this is gonna work out.
- Coach Miller: Whoa. Hold on a second. This team needs you.
- Michael Evans: Needs me? I think my dad has mislead you about my basketball skills.
- Coach Miller: Mike, don't take this the wrong way, but when your dad came to me about you joining the team, it wasn't your basketball skills that interested me. These guys need a positive role model, someone their own age.
- Michael Evans: [narrating] And that's the biggest problem with being a preacher's kid.
- Coach Miller: Hey, I'm gonna go check on Luke.
- Michael Evans: [narrating] It holds us to a different standard, like we have all the answers.
- John Green: This is a normal day for her - crying, guilt, despair, blaming herself, and blaming me. How long does this have to go on?
- Jasmine Stone: Have you ever seen anything this beautiful?
- Michael Evans: You taking about the stars, the fireworks or about you?
- Jasmine Stone: Good answer, but in this case I'm talking about the stars.
- Alex Evans: I wonder if there's somethin' we could do to help? I mean, the church and all.
- Coach Miller: Yeah. Yeah, that sounds like a great idea.
- Alex Evans: The honest truth is God loves us.
- Sally Green: Well, excuse me if I'm not feelin' the love.
- Alex Evans: Understandable.
- Lucas Green: What're you doin', Mike? Come on! Snap out of it! All right. Is there some kind of a verse or somethin' you Christians use in situations like this?
- Michael Evans: What?
- Lucas Green: This Christian stuff - is it real to you or what?
- Michael Evans: Well, yeah.
- Lucas Green: All right, well, then give me SOMETHING', Mike. There's gotta be SOMETHIN'.
- Michael Evans: "I can do all things through him who strengthens me."
- Lucas Green: That's good. Come on, USE that, man. Come on, you're better than this. Snap out of it!
- Michael Evans: Uh, that's the cool thing about bein' a preacher's son - you can pull out the grace and forgiveness card like THAT!
- Jasmine Stone: So, were you nervous?
- Michael Evans: I was scared to death. Oh, my gosh. Like, talking to your parents about sex is not easy.
- Jasmine Stone: Actually, I was talkin' about the basketball game and the big free-throws.
- Michael Evans: Oh, yeah. Yeah. Then, too, for sure.
