An interesting homage to Windsor McCay from Bill Plympton.

This short film from 2011 is a homage to Windsor McCay and his last film, the classic short "The Flying House--Confessions of a Rarebit Fiend". McCay was the father of animation and his Gertie the Dinosaur a work of genius.

This film consists of using the original McCay animation and updating it--by adding color and getting rid of the intertitle cards and replacing them with voices. It's all very clever and enjoyable--even more so if you also see the original version which is floating about on YouTube. It's also obvious that Bill Plympton really loved this original film and the entire production looks like a work of love. Well worth seeing--particularly by fans of early animation.
