- Relations between Martha and Billy are at a low ebb. She is still being pursued by solicitor Mickey Joy who wants her to take his cases and Billy is continually pushing her in that direction. Billy is not well however and his doctor has serious news for him. Clive Reader and George Duggan have convinced Fatima Ali to plead not guilty but subsequently learn she has made several attempts to contact her brother, a prosecution witness, which puts her in violation of her bail. Prosecutor Caroline Warwick offers a plea deal - and also the opportunity for Clive to be her junior in an upcoming prosecution. Clive passes the case to Martha who defends her.
