Although not the final episode aired, this was the last episode filmed in the series. Fittingly, the production's final location was Greenway Estate in Devon, the former home of Agatha Christie, which was used as the exteriors of Nasse House. The final shot filmed was of Poirot walking up the drive and entering the house.
Real-life couple Rosalind Ayres and Martin Jarvis play a couple here, as they have done in other projects.
The second of two episodes to feature Sean Pertwee. In this final series episode, he plays Sir George Stubbs, twenty-four years earlier (in the first series) he played Ronnie Oglander in The King of Clubs (1989). In both episodes he played opposite one of the Cusack sisters (Niamh Cusack and Sinéad Cusack)
All three Cusack sisters appeared in episodes of Poirot: Sinéad Cusack in this episode, Sorcha Cusack in Jewel Robbery at the Grand Metropolitan (1993), and Niamh Cusack in The King of Clubs (1989).
Although Greenway was used, a good proportion of the location shooting (the fete etc) took place at High Canons house just outside Borehamwood.
