I swear, I've wanted to cancel Apple TV+ for over a year now. I'm trying to cut back on streaming services, especially ones I don't use much, but every time I'm about to cut it, they drop another great sci-fi show!
First there was For All Mankind, then I got into See. Then I started getting into Foundation. Foundation got renewed, other shows got additional seasons, and so I stuck around some more. That lead to Severance... then Silo. Just when I think it's over, I spot a new show called Dark Matter (that I had never even heard of), and here I am... hooked AGAIN.
It started off with a done-before/body-swap story with a unique twist, but it's grown into something much more. This episode really highlighted how much further they can go with the concept, not just with the multiverse stuff, but getting more people involved with the concept of the box & what it offers.
Along with that aspect, we finally get characters making more dramatic shifts in their status quo. Jason 2 is no longer content with just inhabbiting the life of Jason 1, he wants to make his mark. And with that comes his family taking notice of how drastically things are changing, which will hopefully get even better in future episodes.
I know this reads more like a review for the whole show, but this episode is what really sold me that this series will ultimately be worth investing in. I don't know if it'll need a S2, but Apple is about the only streaming service I trust to renew a sci-fi show if it does need one.
