Really enjoyed the first episode. Wasn't expecting a programme about trains, so no disappointment here. The premise is that it takes the route of a train through the country, in this case the south island, meeting people, wildlife and flora/fauna along the way. Narrated by Julie Walters. I only watched the first episode and then I gave up because there's very little content about the actual train and they don't even show you the interior of the train. Instead, they focus on arial shots of landscapes, which is a point of view that you wouldn't even see if you were on the actual train.
I know documentary filmmakers are super excited about have access to drones technology that allows them to do formerly expensive arial shots, but it is ridiculous to use that for every single shot for an hour long program. If they had called it NEW ZEALAND BY A DRONE FOLLOWING A TRAIN, which is what it actually is, I would never have even bothered to rent this.
