Tricky but....
ianharrison74726 February 2024
Zoomed through the six episodes. Couldn't resist the fun and entertainment. It's one of those love hate dramas. Doubt there will be not much middle ground in the reviews. The chairperson of the governors Carol is wonderfully slimey played by Niky Wardley. Bernard the hard pressed headmaster is her equal but somehow scores a few more goodie points. Josh Teduku as Jaheim and Jodie Campbell as Leah must surely go on to far greater things.

One fears the wrath of those pointing to racial stereotypes and endorsement of elitism BUT if one considers it as just light entertainment - it's fab.

Anyway, it was a horrible tasteless picture (you'll know when you see it) and needed to be put on hold for bonfire night. Just enjoy it !

Has unrealized potential
kylecurry9 March 2024
This could have been an interesting show. There are many good actors, and it had potential to develop into something fun. But I don't think the writers knew what they were doing with it.

The story just rambles from one character to another. There are five interesting characters, and they each have their own issues, but none of them get developed very deeply. We just keep jumping around to these unconnected storylines that are fairly unbelievable.

We are supposed to think these characters know each other and are good friends, but we don't have any background to explain that, and they don't really seem to have anything in common other than that they attended the same community center classes.

And then the story seems to follow some of the characters from the school for a while, but then it jumps back to the main characters. Nobody really gets the full story development. Nothing significant really happens.

Waste of talent and time.

What can I say I want a second series
qprgxgxb7 March 2024
This isn't just. Good series it's bloody brilliant I don't really watch many dramas on bbc but I was going through all my apps looking for something new to watch and found this it has everything romance, drama, thrill and inclusivity without running it down your throat and shows the different versions of black teens watched all episodes in two days because it has me hooked wish it was 10 episodes in total but they left room for a new season hopefully and the actors are very talented individuals. Honestly well done bbc three.

10s a cross the board also woukd love to know more about each character.

Really good series
chelbelle7723 February 2024
Pretty good series - I'm only 3 episodes in but it sucked me in from the very first episode. It's really absorbing and does a good job of mixing serious social and on point racial commentary with laugh out loud comedy. The characters show a lot of heat and are likable, well developed and unpredictable.

It's hard to guess what direction people are going to go in because the characters are so layered with no one appearing one dimensional. It's been a long time since I've seen something so good like this on British TV and it's nice to have something other than a political or police drama to watch and get sucked into.

It's also nice to know that slang hasn't changed too much and the social media girls are particularly on point.

Waiting for next season
nicolescott-887329 March 2024
Oh so far so good. I'm loving this hope the next season comes out soon ASAP. At first I didn't think I was going to like this show but so far I am loving it. We need more shows like this. Great answers with excellent talent. The show definitely needs more advertisement. I love that everyone is coming together. I love that everyone is coming together in this series creating more diversity and coming together. They are beginning to see that everyone is just the same as the next person trying to be successful while being under the spotlight. Despite the wrongdoings of good versus bad guy in this.

Anuvahood meets mean girls
Spencercollins6 March 2024
I'm nearing the end of episode 3 but I think I get the gist. Quite an entertaining series but I'm not sure if it works entirely. From the start the guys from London are such a mixed bag I'm just not sure how their friendships would have originated and the guys already attending the boarding school are absolute bafoons from the off so you can't take it too seriously. As long as you can over look the above then I think you'll find it mildly amusing and worth investing in on a quiet Sunday lunchtime. That said I think Jaheim (the lead) has got good potential. He carries his character well. And I hated Rupert from the word go which I'm assuming was the actors intentions so good job there too. All in all worth a watch if there's nothing much doing.

A must watch! Enjoyed the differences in kids
jadebay-0205010 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Was so good watching this, the different of south London kids going into a posh school due to them being very clever and seeing the differences in their lives and how they didn't get on at first and how they look at race. It was good to see the south London kids when they go back to their home town and how they see everyone getting on there. Knowing the difference in education and what opportunities they are given now they have gone to this school which they "shouldn't" have been given. How the posh school used the fact they come from a not as well off background as threaten they will go back there so need to be grateful. Brilliant ending too!

Brits finally brought us something new
rilinafiu1 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I won't lie the brits highkey kinda ate with this. If ur looking for a show to binge I'd def recommend. Kinda zoomed past the episodes cause it was so entertaining. Synopsis: What happens when you take 5 black teens from London and force them to assimilate in an all-white environment. If you black you can kinda already predict the behaviors of the characters and how it differs from each other, but it was interesting to watch in real time. Loved everything about it, however I hated that Omar was a carbon copy of Lionel from "Dear White People", their characters were identical it was so disappointing; they had the same look, same interest, same mission(joining a secret cult), same personalities: both were shy, forgiving, queer nothing made Omar unique from Lionel besides the accent. I also wish they didn't try and force the femi Nigerian thing, it's ok to be a black-Britain or Nigerian-Britain without him butchering the language and stereotypes. Toby, Leah, and Jaheim were prefect I wouldn't change a thing bout them. The actors did their shi, also can we just take a sec to recognize that even in a setting with bare colored folks they still showed us black and poc love/relationships. 9/10 available on Tubi (originally BBC3 show but Ig Tubi bought it for American folks to view). This one of those shows where you know if they get a season 2 it'll be so good.
