Everyone loves curling up with a good love story, but every now and then it’s just as much fun to have a laugh at romance movies’ grandiose depictions of relationships.
Below, twelve times comedians played around with our favorite romance films — and made us love them even more.
La La Land: Emma Stone & Ryan Gosling
Stone joined the Saturday Night Live host for a very important reason: to make fun of their Oscar-winning movie, La La Land. A self-deprecating Gosling parodied his character from the whimsical musical during his monologue, telling the audience all about how he “saved jazz.

Barbie, Lego and even Disney's beloved Frozen have received the Fifty Shades treatment, all with hilarious results.

Aren’t movies great? The perfect escapism from the monotonous tedium that is your daily life, by watching insanely hot people in heart stopping and soul warming moments, forever captured on celluloid for your repeated viewing pleasure. A good movie is enough to make you forget your terrible credit history, your worryingly increasing unexplained back spasms and your sudden love of pointless display cushions.
The good folks over at Funny or Die know this. Which is why they create some of the best and most hilarious video content available today. And my personal favourite section of their site is their trailers for films that don’t exist. Perfect little 3 minute trailers that not only make you laugh, but make you wish upon a movie star that they could be real movies. Well here’s 10 of them, and how they could go down in the real world.

Of all the many, many rumors we’ve been hearing about the movie adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey, this is one of our favorites: Angelina Jolie’s name has been floating around — no, not as a gender-swapped version of Christian Grey (though that would make things more interesting, and she did it for Salt!), nor as a casting choice for Elena/”Mrs. Robinson” (because who doesn’t think she’s into “kinky f—ery”?), but as a possible director of the film. According to Deadline, the folks at Universal Pictures denied having any conversations with Jolie, But they’d certainly consider her if she were into it. Hmmm, the love story of a naive college graduate and the corporate exec with a secret Bdsm life sounds a wee bit different from In the Land of Blood and Honey, Angie’s directorial debut. It does, however, remind us of Jolie...
