Clownie & the Satanic Cult is an indie short film from 2006. The film's protagonist is Clownie, played by Bjarni Gautur, who also directed this short. Clownie has been idle for 5 years, but out of nowhere gets a phone call from who he thinks is a client. The man on the other line is a satanic cult member, who wants Clownie for himself and his cult.
Bjarni Gautur directed a feature film in 2005 starring Lloyd Kaufman called Knight of the Living Dead. This short film came out a year later and is not worse by any means. The film is recorded hand-held throughout, that fact accompanied with bad lighting, gives the film a great effect. The editing is good, and the music in the film sets the tone well. The special effects match with the quality of the rest of the film. The acting is great considering. The locations where the film is shot are great. The film happens mostly inside an apartment, but evolves to outside action where the final minutes are probably the best ones of the film.
This is definitely an underground gem, and I recommend this film to anyone, especially to indie, B-movie, low budget enthusiasts.
