- Maggie Ryan: I dated a prince once,
- Laura Cameron: [instantly impressed] You did?
- Maggie Ryan: Johnny Esposito. His father was the Muffler King of Clatsop County. Every time we pulled up into a filling station, we were royalty.
- Kate Cameron: That's not exactly the stuff of fairy tales.
- Maggie Ryan: I'm done with fairy tales. Who needs 'em.
- Laura Cameron: I do.
- Kate Cameron: [Colette enters, grinning] Well look who's beaming.
- Colette Valois: I feel like I'm floating on air.
- Maggie Ryan: We all are, we're at 30.000 feet.
- Base Manager: At a party in Rome, didn't Captain Lowrey assault you?
- George Broyles: Justified. I would've hit me too. And harder. That's all I have to say.
- Dean Lowrey: What's your gut telling ya?
- Ted Vanderway: I've had too many of those.
- Dean Lowrey: Yeah?
- Ted Vanderway: Hm-hm.
- Dean Lowrey: Good. Have another one.
- [throws another tiny botle at Ted]
- Ted Vanderway: Oh boy.
- [cathes it]
- Dean Lowrey: What's a gut know anyway? It keeps changing it's mind.
- Colette Valois: Congratulations. I hear you're still a Pan Am pilot.
- Dean Lowrey: Yeah... with a six-month suspension.
- Colette Valois: It's still better than being fired.
- Dean Lowrey: Hmmm. Sorry about you and the prince.
- Colette Valois: Don't be.
- Dean Lowrey: I'm not.
- Colette Valois: [shows Dean her family photo] That's my family. That's me standing in front of my father.
- Dean Lowrey: Who's the... who's the boy?
- Colette Valois: That's my brother. Tomorrow I start looking for him.
- Dean Lowrey: Let me help you.
- Colette Valois: Dean!
- Dean Lowrey: Oh, come on. Hey, it just so happens that I have six months off of work. Come on, please.
- [Colette smiles]
- [last lines]
- Dean Lowrey: Good-bye, 1963!
- Maggie Ryan: It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.
- Laura Cameron: I loved every minute of it.
- Colette Valois: I love us.
- Kate Cameron: And this... I love this!
- Ted Vanderway: That ball'd never land.
- [they all raise a toast and exchange hugs and kisses at the stroke of midnight, wishing each other a happy New Year to the strains of Auld Lang Syne. The camera captures all six in a freeze frame before the final fade out]
