Deidara's Reasons
tomasmmc-7719819 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This was the culmination of the great battle between Deidara and Sasuke. It was excellent, including a lot of strategies from the two ninjas. Deidara uses his C4 Karura, a special explosive he was keeping for Itachi. Against Gaara, he used til C3. The C4 is a giant Deidara clay doll, that, when explodes, becomes an incredible number of nanobombs. These small bombs are breathed and reach every animal body in seconds. So, it's impossible to escape. When he tries the first time, Sasuke runs away but then seemingly disappears given the effect of the detonation. But turns out that it was a gen jutsu and he escaped the range of C4 thanks to his Sharingan. Still, when Sasuke reaches and stabs Deidara with the Chidori, the Iwaka deserter already prevented this since has been training his eye to fight against the Sharingan gen jutsu. So Sasuke only stabbed a clay clone, and Deidara, from inside his flying bird, grabs him and sends another C4, this time seriously reaching his body. The Akatsuki jumps and escapes to the woods, while Sasuke uses the chidori in himself. The Uchiha gets alive and returns to the woods, even though Deidara tried to detonate the nanobombs. Sasuke explains that during the battle he realized his rock type chakra, and that his chidori (lightning is stronger than rock) deactivates the bombs. Now, both are with limited amount of chakra, and Sasuke is damaged because he used the chidori to deactivate all the bombs inside him. He again asks Deidara to give him Itachi's location, but the Akatsuki ignores him. Deidara has been holding a grudge against Itachi since the day he defeated him (Itachi made him join Akatsuki), and now also against Sasuke because of their attitude and the Sharingan. He intends to eliminate him once and for all, and criticizes him for not showing emotions, or being worried. The Uchiha's impassive unshakeable personality bothers him. So Deidara reveals his ultimate technique: he reveals another mouth above his heart, bigger, that allows him to become a massive bomb, while eating some clay. He says the the radio of the blast will be 10 miles so there's no escape. This time he will die for real, but he's going to take the Uchiha with him. And Tobi too. As he explodes he calls art is a blast, with this final line "Katsu".

Like I said, the fight was incredible. Deidara knew it wasn't easy, but he tried to prevent every possible way for Sasuke to escape. Sometimes I understimated him because if I compared him to Sasori, Hidan or Kakuzu he seemed weaker. But with this fight, Deidara proved to be a worthy villain. Capable of producing such massive blast, and the deadly C4 technique, plus his long range attacks, and good strategy, make him an incredible ninja, at the level of any Kage. Then, about his reasons against the Uchiha, they were logical. For one side, Sasuke became a more dislikable character than in the first part. He indeed shows no emotions, no sadness, remorse, guilt, not even a thought or the most minimum memory of his past at Konoha. He's as unshakeable as Itachi, but the older brother will prove to be a much better character with feelings inside. But Sasuke, surely given his years at Orochimaru's side, now is worst than emotionless. For the other side, the Sharingan is really a powerful eye that makes the user a lucky guy. It's like an unfair advantage. They become arrogant ninjas, with a complex of superior, and Sasuke has given in to this even more than Itachi. The way he always treated Naruto is an example. So, for the same reasons Deidara had, I actually wanted him to win. I wished he had defeated Sasuke. But given his importance to the plotline for the protagonist, that didn't happened. It's bad that Deidara blew himself up for nothing, but at least he gave a great fight, and died with honor.
