Cryptkeeper Returns!

I'm glad the show wasn't afraid to have fun with the concept instead of turning it into a 30 min lecture on how everything traditional is expected or derivative and getting sentimental is cliche (like Rick & Morty has started doing, getting waaaaay too meta). Instead, gladly, this adds to a bunch of great Halloween themed episodes shows I watch where I can watch each year to help me get into the Halloween spirit. Extra points to the show for getting the real voice for Cryptkeeper, a property which has languished in obscurity as a bunch of dummies try to figure out who owns it while the money they could be making flies out the window. I just saw a screening of Tales from the Crypt: Demon Knight over the summer at my local non-profit cinema art house and it reminded me how much I missed the character of the Cryptkeeper, was so good to hear that voice and laugh again. The show was able to both have fun with it as a spoof and not tear it down, nicely balanced comedy. I hope this leads to more Tales from the Crypt properties to start up again. The fans don't care about the legalities, they just want to be entertained. Solar Opposites has done great so far at keeping it story grounded and yet also individual enough show plots to not get too bogged down with an on going plot to satisfy both needs. Having holiday specials is a great way to just have fun and write for the joy of it.
