The slasher mash-up Freddy vs. Jason just celebrated its 20th anniversary six months ago, and now we have some very sad news to share about one of its cast members: Chris Gauthier, who played the Jason victim Shack in the film, has passed away at the age of 48. Variety reports that Gauthier passed away suddenly and unexpectedly from “an unspecified short illness”.
In addition to Freddy vs. Jason, where his character was felled by a flaming machete thrown by Jason during the cornfield rave sequence, Gauthier’s acting credits included 40 Days and 40 Nights, Insomnia, Agent Cody Banks, Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed, Dead Like Me, Riding the Bullet, Stargate: Atlantis, Masters of Horror (where he had a role in John Carpenter’s Cigarette Burns), The Butterfly Effect 2, Stargate: The Ark of Truth, Supernatural, Space Buddies, Watchmen, Harper’s Island, Sanctuary, Beyond the Black Rainbow, Iron Golem, Smallville, Continuum, Eureka, R.L. Stine’s The Haunting Hour,...

Ringo Starr has said for decades that he only ever wanted to be a drummer. Mission accomplished, sir. His steady backbeat helped make The Beatles the biggest band on earth. On a few occasions, he outshined his bandmates and came up big on their best songs. We didn’t know it at the time, but the world changed when Richard Starkey was born on July 7, 1940. To celebrate Ringo’s birthday, here are 10 of his best solo songs from his post-Beatles career to listen to.
Ringo Starr’s birthday coincided with some major Beatles events
There must have been something about early July that made it a special time for members of The Beatles.
John Lennon and Paul McCartney first met on July 6, 1957. Seven years later and well on their way to conquering the pop music world, the band premiered their first movie, A Hard Day’s Night. The album and titular single dropped four days later.

After shooting two movies while travelling in Europe, Lim Kah-wai returns to Osaka, where he graduated in 1998 majoring in Electrical engineering, to shoot a film that still functions quite a lot like a tour guide, although this time, in the original “underbelly” of the city, as seen, for the most part, from the perspective of a number of “dark tourists”. “Come and Go” had its World Premiere in Tokyo.
The protagonists of “Come and Go” are many and differ radically. There is a young man from Vietnam who works as part of a technical training program, which, in his case, looks much like modern slavery, since he is not allowed to quit until his 3-years-contract expires. There is a Nepalese man who used to work in an Indian restaurant and now dreams of opening a restaurant specializing in his country’s food. He is learning Japanese in a school for...

“Come And Go”, the latest film from Japan-based Malaysian director Lim Kah Wai, is set for a world premiere at the 33rd Tokyo International Film Festival (TIFF), which will take place from 31 October – 9 November. The film will be presented in Tokyo Premiere 2020, vying for the audience award. “Come And Go” is the eighth film of Lim and his most ambitious so far. With an epic running time of 158 minutes, the drama crosscuts eight stories with 14 principal characters as they struggle to find solace in contemporary Osaka. Some characters cross paths in the sometimes interlinked stories, while other characters remain unconnected, but they all share the same dream for a better future. The pan-Asian ensemble cast come from nine countries and speak seven different languages in the film.

This past weekend, Rian Johnson’s long-awaited Star Wars: The Last Jedi exploded in theaters and made a killing at the box office. The film was met with a lot of positive critical acclaim but at the same time, it left audiences torn. Some fans absolutely loved it, while other fans hated it.
I’m one of the long-time hardcore fans that enjoyed the hell out of the movie. I thought Johnson did an incredible job with the story and I loved the direction that he took the characters. I thought the movie took some bold risks and didn’t play it safe that way Abrams did with The Force Awakens.
A lot of fans complained about Abrams because The Force Awakens was too similar to A New Hope. Then Johnson does something completely unique, unexpected, and surprising with his film. He did something that didn’t follow the...

When The Princess Bride was first released in theaters in 1987 it didn't really do too well, and that's probably because the marketing for the movie was so bad. The original trailer they released was so awkwardly cut together complete with its weird 80s elevator music.
It wasn't until after the movie was released on VHS that it exploded and became the cult classic that it is. I haven't met anyone yet that hasn't liked The Princess Bride. It's packed with everything that makes a great movie!
There's a 30th anniversary screening coming up later this month and a new trailer was released. You'd think that a modern day updated trailer would turn out a lot better than the original trailer! But, no. This new trailer is just as bad. After all these years, people still can't cut a decent trailer for this movie!

[Editor’s Note: The following review contains spoilers for “Twin Peaks: The Return” Episode 15, “Part 15.”]
Throughout “The Return,” David Lynch and Mark Frost have paid tribute to cast and crew who have passed away since the original seasons aired — including a dedication to David Bowie in last week’s episode — but “Part 15” felt like an episode-long tribute to Catherine E. After all these years, Batman: Mask of the Phantasm is finally coming to Blu-ray! This is one of my favorite Batman movies and I've been wondering when Warner Bros. would finally get around to doing this! I'm surprised the studio waited this long to give the movie a high definition remaster.
The 1993 film has a new 1080p HD remaster and will include both the original 16×9 aspect ratio (1.78:1) and an open matte 4×3 (1.37:1) version.
Batman: Mask of the Phantasm begins when the city’s most feared gangsters are systematically eliminated and the Caped Crusader is blamed. But prowling the Gotham night is a shadowy new villain, the Phantasm, a sinister figure with some link to Batman’s past. Can the Dark Knight elude the police, capture the Phantasm and clear his own name?

“There are signs that HBO are quite keen to make it. They’ve got the script. It’s when they’ll make an offer and when we can fit it in. It's been 20 years since we last saw Rick Moranis in a movie. With movies like Ghostbusters, Little Shop of Horrors, Spaceballs, and Honey, I Shrunk The Kids, he was one of the most popular comedic actors from the 80's and 90's.
