Not the usual case
cpotato10104 November 2022
When even "liberal" Law & Order writers point out how corrosive the "no prosecution" for petty theft has become, you get an episode like this.

First off, I should explain I am not a Republican, but rather an Independent voter. This is not a MAGA rant.

I do live in Los Angeles County, and we have seen a similar attitude on the West Coast, as well. It has gotten bad enough that there have been several recall attempts against the Los Angeles County DA. In San Francisco County the recall succeeded.

This appears to have made an impression on this show's writers. While they do go into the issue of prosecutors being overloaded, they also seem to be agreeing with the assessment that this looking the other way for theft has gone to far.

For the actors, there are good performances from both the regular and guest actors. I would say this is closer to the older Law & Order that gave us 20 seasons.

Vicious Cycle
bobcobb3017 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Nolan with some very pedestrian moves here and moves that me as a TV fan lawyer knew would not fly. You cannot blindly attack someone's character with things out of evidence, no matter how bad that character may be.

This season is proving to still be decent TV and is definitely watchable, even if it is a far cry from the glory days of this series. I feel like stuff involving the world of fashion is probably better saved for Law and Order: SVU, but these are minor complaints right now.

Law and Order is proving to be enjoyable TV and I wish more old time fans would come back sp the show gets picked up for another year.

BUBBLE HAS BURST!
b_clerkin4 November 2022
Reality seems to be creeping up on the entertainment industry as it realizes that the progressive policies they so enthusiastically supported for the last decade or so are not as welcome and popular outside the little bubble in which they've existed. After years of lecturing the ignorant masses ( i.e the folks they won't find at their exclusive events or circle jerk discussions) about how awful and ignorant and unsophisticated we are for not slavishly accepting their chosen narrative, the Wolf Wokerati produced an episode with only a couple of lines to remind us of why they think they deserve to control the rest of us.

This is the first episode of the L&O franchise that resembles the many shows that built it such a loyal following. If they keep it up, and expand it to the other two L&O and the FBI series, they may restore credibility to their production company.

So sick of Defence Lawyers
theseasidechair15 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I get so tired of all the smarmy defence lawyers that have appeared on behalf of all the criminals. I know they're all entitled to a defence but when we know they're guilty it's so frustrating to see them quash this & dismiss that. 90% of the time they always succeed in getting crucial evidence thrown out. Sometimes yes, it's due to over zealous cops but lately I've been left with the feeling that the judicial system is totally screwed up.

I really miss ADA Cutter. I havent liked Nolan Price from day one. There's been so many times, where the defence has been eating up witnesses & we don't hear many objections from this so called brilliant Price. There's also been numerous times he could've redirected, to clean up a mess the defence has made of a witness testimony but he just sits there, looking like an out of place "garden gnome". (Sorry, I've read that description of Nolan quite a few times, from different reviewers & it's so true, so I borrowed it.)

Like in this episode, defence attorney Vega was objecting left & right throughout the entire trial, even during Price's opening! She was about the boldest, ballsiest, gung-ho, annoying lawyer I've ever seen but if I was ever accused I'd sure want her defending me! She found a good argument for putting ADA Maroun on her witness list & when she had her on the stand she was relentless. Ok, we heard a couple objections from Price but when defence was finished with Maroun I really expected Price to redirect. He could've easily asked the right questions to undo Vega's smear job. He could've totally cleared up why the previous witness was now able to communicate & he also could've got it explained how Maroun was transferred & that case was given to another attorney. The jury is human, they would've understood that. I actually shouted at the tv when Price didn't redirect. I couldn't believe it. But he's done that before, not redirected when he could've cleared something up.

Price does have one thing in common with Cutter though, he always swears to McCoy that he can win the case. He's exceptionally arrogant when he says he can win them even after all his evidence is dismissed! Too much over confidence if you ask me & he's going to fall on his face one of these times. But remember when McCoy was prosecuting cases? He told Adam & Arthur, both, the same things. And, McCoy & Cutter, were just as stubborn, bull headed, & cocky as Price. Maybe it's a requisite of the job.

Something else I've been wanting to point out for a long time, is when the cops are going over CCTV footage & the frame comes up with the suspect in it, someone, usually the Lt., will say, "Stop!" & the tech stops. How is it always on the exact frame that they want?? Video on computers do not work so precise, along with the tech being able to stop at the exact moment someone else commands. And why do they always have the same line, 'what about CCTV?' We know they're going to look for some & if there are working cameras, footage will be viewed.

I get tired of a lot of things they are still telling us, the viewers with an IQ of 50, at least that's how the writers make us feel. We're not stupid, so I wish the writers would stop with their boring, mundane lines. Episode after episode after episode is like that. Mr. Wolf, after23 years, we know!!

Mauron Focused Episode
shelbythuylinh5 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
When a fashion designer there opens up on opening night over in a new show or a new gallery of his designs he is later found murdered.

It is up to Cosgrove and Shaw to figure out why he was murdered and that over in a man that the NYPD knows all too well. And how he has robbed people including very expensive watches there.

But sadly and tragically to the victim and the suspect named Keith, the latter now looks at a lifetime in prison there in killing that designer there.

Now Price's assistant Mauron was a former robbery prosecutor before going to work for him. And that she is on the defense list due to Keith's defense attorney saying that the ADA did not look at the evidence well and how Keith was railroaded.

Mauron must now fight for her job and reputation as the defense attorney was obnoxious as usually that over in the prosecutors that are the ones being mean spirited.

Pure propaganda
dontspamme-760784 November 2022
Nothing but lies that the police don't arrest, prosecutors don't charge, and courts don't convict. Coming from all sides (victims, cops and even the criminals). Add some (meaning a lot) of false information about cash bail, visuals of black stripe flags, and waddaya know. It's five days before a national election.

It's disgusting that this blatant propaganda is being smeared like this.

All that is required anymore is for misinformation like this to be broadcast into the compliant echo chamber and the acolytes eat it up like pudding.

It doesn't matter that the actual truth debunks these lies and distortions. People feast on their own righteous indignation.

Shops
safenoe24 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I'm trying to enjoy the reboot of Law and Order, and I'm giving it a fair chance, and after having recently watched Law and Order: Los Angeles (which was unfairly axed after only one season), I want to give the reboot a chance.

This episode tries to draw upon the crime epidemic of shops and all, and the social contract between prospective criminals and commerce and all. Anyway, no doubt this episode was controversial and no surprise that. Anyway, I would love for the producers to bring back Chris Noth to shake things up and really restore some of the glory that Law and Order is famed for init.
