Smogula/The Alien Brain from Outer Space Part 1/The Sinister Speck
Frankenstein, Jr. and the Impossibles
The Speck's drinking his "miniaturizing compound" to shrink to mosquito size is uncannily similar to Ant-Man's drinking of a formula to reduce himself to ant size. The Marvel Comics character debuted in 1962, four years before this Impossibles adventure was produced.
The "Smogula" segment pays homage to entertainer Jimmy Durante by using two of his famous catchphrases. Smogula says, "I've got a million of 'em," and after defeating Smogula, the Impossibles say, "Good night, Smogula, wherever you are!" (a play on the Durante show's closing line, "Good night, Mrs. Calabash, wherever you are!").
