Some Beatles fans might be surprised to know that John Lennon’s mother, Julia Lennon, did not raise him. Instead, he was raised by his aunt, Mimi Smith. John had some major issues with his parents and he worked them into his music.
John Lennon never adulated his mother
The book All We Are Saying: The Last Major Interview with John Lennon and Yoko Ono features an interview from 1980. During the interview, the “Imagine” singer had quite a lot to say about parents. “Some people cannot see that their parents are still torturing them, even when they are in their forties and fifties — they still have that stranglehold over them and their thoughts and their minds,” he said.
“I never had that fear of and adulation for parents,” he added. “Well, that’s the gift of being a so-called orphan — which I never was at all. My mother was alive...

A submarine vanishing prompts a rescue operation that comes face to face with the cause -The Loch Ness Monster. Having escaped the Loch, it is now unleashing decades of pent-up aggression on all those it encounters. In a fight for survival, our team of rescue operatives must overcome the terrors both beneath them and within their ranks.
Here we are again, with yet another film in the seemingly never-ending inter-connected world of British low-budget horror filmmaking. Monsternado is, as far as I can tell, a first, this obvious rip-off of the Sharknado franchise marks the first time somebody has turned the tables and mockbustered The Asylum. And it probably won’t be a surprise that Scott Jeffrey is involved with it.
Matt is wandering around his house muttering about things that shouldn’t be happening for years or decades when he catches a report about waterspouts heading for the East Coast of the US. This really concerns him because it has some connection the the Northern Lights being seen over the Bermuda Triangle, which proves what he’s been saying for the past twenty years.
Oblivious to all of this, human trafficker Clive Delaney is hanging out in a luxury hotel on the coast. He’s also unaware that FBI Agent Pamela,...

Tyler-James stays busy – so busy, it seems like the saying “Another week, another Tyler-James project” might soon be accurate. We’ve heard about multiple Tyler-James movies recently, as the filmmaker has produced the films that turn the popular nursery rhymes Mary Had a Little Lamb and Three Blind Mice into horror stories, and directed both The Loch Ness Horror and Monsternado. Also directed by Tyler-James is the upcoming ITN Distribution release Sky Monster, and a trailer for the film can be seen in the embed above. We don’t yet know exactly when Sky Monster is going to be released, but take a look at the trailer and find out if this looks like something you’d want to watch.

We’re back in “fairytale” fear film territory once again for Three Blind Mice which, like Mary Had a Little Lamb, is based on the classic kid’s nursery rhyme and is the latest British horror film to take a beloved childhood “thing” and turn it into something terrifying. It’s also the second film from Dark Abyss Productions released by Uncork’d Entertainment this month – and the second film where the producer (whose name is On This Film!) told me to remove his name off the exclusive news piece I ran months ago where we unveiled the official artwork for Both films. Why? Because he, and I’m paraphrasing, thinks they’re both so terrible he doesn’t want them to “spoil” his career…...

May Kelly, who has starred in a number of low-budget British horror films from producer Scott Jeffrey including seasonal horrors The Killing Tree and Nutcracker Massacre, and taken the lead in such diverse genre fare such as Graphic Desires and Mega Lightning, follows up her appearance in Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey with Another “fairy tale” fear flick in Mary Had a Little Lamb.
Based on the nursery rhyme of the same name, the plot of this film is pretty simple. A radio host (Kelly) and her crew set out to discover the truth behind some disappearances for a true crime show. They will soon learn that there is far more to discover when they meet Mary and her [not-so-little] lamb… Yes,...

It's never easy to confront monsters, and Star Trek: Picard Season 3 Episode 7 drives that home with the return of a classic villain, the backstory of our new one, a suspicion of another, and two of our heroes choosing a monstrous path.
Furthermore, the horrific truth that the changelings have infiltrated Starfleet so profoundly that even Tuvok has been replaced is heartbreaking.
It's interesting to note that without Riker, Worf, and Raffi, there isn't a light-hearted quip in sight. Even Shaw is uncharacteristically taciturn and all business-y.
There is no adequate language to convey the trauma that gave rise to Vadic's insanity-tinged fanaticism, which is probably why her narrative is fleshed out with disjointed flashbacks and that eerie whistled rendition of "Three Blind Mice."
Remembering that Section 31 not only created the morphogenic virus, they infected Odo without his knowledge so he would carry it back to the Great Link, it's not...

Paul McCartney said his single favorite aspect of The Beatles‘ “Lady Madonna” is the dark recurring phrase, “See how they run.” The line is more complex than anyone can imagine and comes from a subconscious place inside Paul. The singer-songwriter has always known how to juxtapose light and dark, good and bad, in his songs with minimal effort.
Paul McCartney | Tony Evans/Timelapse Library Ltd./Getty Images Paul McCartney based ‘Lady Madonna’ on the Virgin Mary and his mother
In The Lyrics: 1956 to the Present, Paul wrote that his mother’s death is something he never got over. He was only fourteen when Mary McCartney died of breast cancer. So, he knows that a song that depicts a “very present, nurturing mother” has got to be influenced by a similar sense of loss, just as “Lady Madonna” does.
“The question about how Lady Madonna manages ‘to feed the rest’ is particularly poignant to me,...

A stroll past the credits of filmmaker Rhys Frake-Waterfield delivers an assortment of monsters, disasters, and delights. He's taken on the producer role in projects like "Dinosaur Hotel" (which he also wrote) and "Croc!," and has recently set his sights on your childhood faves.
His directorial debut this year puts an A.A. Milne creation in the spotlight, though not in the way you might imagine. "Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey" takes the beloved big-bellied bear of Milne's stories and, with the help of Pooh entering the public domain, re-imagines him and the plucky Piglet as feral beasts who launch a campaign of terror when an adult Christopher Robin returns to the Hundred Acre Wood. If you're looking for the rest of the Hundred Acre gang like Eeyore, Rabbit, Kanga and little Roo, or Owl, you won't find them; Pooh and Piglet devoured them alive, and a house full of...
