The Film was originally planned to be called ''This Town'', then changed to "Pride Of Manchester" and finally ended up as "A Mancunian Story."
Belfast born rapper Jun Tzu was considered for the role of Irish Doyle but had to decline due to schedule conflicts.
The idea came about when long-term friends and writers Scott Perry and Craig Quinn had many conversations about football hooliganism and challenged themselves to the idea of writing a draft script just to see what they could come up with. In December 2010 it was decided they would go ahead with the film.
The ''Dagger'' character was originally written by Craig Quinn in 2008 for a potential comedy sketch show but the idea was scrapped but once Quinn pitched his idea to Perry about the character he agreed that Dagger could fit into the script.
The character Dean Baker is based on a friend of Craig Quinn's Father.
