Japanese publisher Kadokawa announced on May 2 that Ichiei Ishibumi's High School DxD light novel series has printed a total of 7.8 million copies (including digital edition) worldwide as of April 2024. The series has released from the publisher's Fantasia Bunko imprint since September 2008. After the original series ended with its 25th volume in March 2018, a sequel, Shin High School DxD , followed in July of the same year, releasing four volumes so far. Currently, the novel has been translated into English, Korean, Chinese, Thai, and many other languages, and has become popular all over the world.
