Last month (November 23rd & 24th to be precise) saw the McM Comic Con and Memorabilia show take place at the NEC in Birmingham. We were there on the Saturday, checking out all the delights on offer and spending way too much money (on Blu-rays, Funko Pop vinyls and much more) and grabbing autographs and photographs from attending guests – in particular Friday the 13th Part 5 star Melanie Kinnaman, Texas Chainsaw Massacre‘s Grandpa, aka actor John Dugan, and Toy Hunter Jordan Hembrough.

As a collector I’m always looking for those hidden treasures and must-have items at each and every Comic Con I go to… But at this weekend’s McM Comic Con / Memorabilia Birmingham it seems I might have some competition as Travel Channel series Toy Hunter is headed to Birmingham Comic Con and Memorabilia this weekend, as show host and toy dealer extraordinaire Jordan Hembrough brings his expert eye to this weekend’s con.
Currently in its third season and airing in 42 countries, U.S. TV show Toy Hunter follows Hembrough as he searches for the most sought-after pieces, and this weekend Jordan’s toy hunt takes him across the Pond to the NEC. After being in the industry for more than 20 years, Hembrough still gets a thrill from meeting new collectors and seeing the next unusual item they covet… but what will he uncover at Birmingham Comic Con & Memorabilia?...

Toy Hunter star Jordan Hembrough is gearing up for a third season of surprises next year on Travel Channel, and the overgrown child from Jersey was like a kid in a candy store at this year's Comic-Con in San Diego as he shot footage for a future episode and pounced on some of the coolest collectibles to hoard for himself. As ETonline's own resident overgrown child, I couldn't miss an opportunity to talk toys with Jordan -- and how "these kids these days" just don't understand…

Chicago – Legendary is one way to describe C2E2 – the Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo. Comic book and pop culture fans gathered at McCormick Place in Chicago from April 26-28, 2013, for three days of celebration with their favorite comic, movie, game and television celebrities, and HollywoodChicago.com was there.
One of the highlights of the expo were two stars from the hot HBO epic series, “Game of Thrones,” Natalie Dormer and James Cosmo. Like many of the celebrity participants, they held a forum at which fans asked questions about the current season. AMC’s “The Walking Dead” also was also represented, with Laurie Holden and Chandler Riggs holding court. And there were old favorites like Julie Newmar and Burt Ward of the 1966 classic TV series “Batman,” signing autographs and greeting admirers.

Toy Hunter with Jordan Hembrough premiered last year, and first episode of Season 2 airs later tonight on Travel Channel. I spoke with Jordan Hembrough last year, and had the chance to catch up with him recently to talk about how his life has changed since the premiere of the series, The Walking Dead collectibles, and what we can look forward to in Season 2.
We last talked before the premiere of the first season of Toy Hunter. Has your life changed a lot since then? Have you noticed a big increase in toy selling and hunting inquiries?
Jordan Hembrough: It has been crazy and we have been getting 500 emails a day. I sift through emails for about an hour and a half each day, and I can’t get through it all. I try my best to get back to everyone and it’s a big task, but I’m loving it.

We cover quite a few horror collectibles on Daily Dead and I have a fair share of old action figures stored away from when I was young. That’s why I took the opportunity to jump on a call with Jordan Hembrough to ask him about collecting and his life as a professional toy collector and hunter.
Jordan Hembrough is the owner of Hollywood Heroes and has a new show coming out called Toy Hunter, in which he searches for rare toys and collectibles. Continue reading to learn about how he got into this as a profession, his suggestions to new collectors, and the rare item he’s still looking for today:
When did you start collecting toys professionally?
Jordan Hembrough: I started collecting toys when I was very, very little and had my bedroom adorned with Star Wars and superheroes and all the cool movie toys. I played...

We’ve been watching the growth of collectibles shows since the dawn of PBS’s Antiques Roadshow. The last couple of years have seen new shows that are more Our Stuff -specific: Syfy’s Hollywood Treasure (screen-used TV and movie props) and the upcoming Collection Intervention (pop culture collectibles management), and AMC’s Comic Book Men (comics and comics-related collectibles).
Now the Travel Channel is adding to the mix with the upcoming half-hour series Toy Hunter, and it looks fun. We have a TV spot and press release for you to check out:
