Tired of smarmy dialog
Some suit or focus group must have told the writers not to trust their gag reflex when writing dialog for the three principal women in this episode. It's been bad before but this episode broke new ground. I don't see how anyone with above room temperature IQ could suspend disbelief and enjoy the cloying fake emotionalism forced on the actors. Following some of the most pathetic scenes, even more pathetic reaction shots were edited in. I watch this series because there have been some good parts of most episodes but I almost couldn't make it through this one. Wow. I hope this was the series' low point. I don't see how any future episode could be worse. I blame the writers and the people who tell the writers what to write. The actors are capable of much better. What a waste of talent!

Directing? Acting? Writing?
Tadlem19 April 2023
I love this show! I've watched it over and over and still watch it like it's the first time I've ever seen it.

But there are occasions when it just goes....wrong...and this episode is one of them. Don't get me wrong, overall the episode is good, but the over directing? Over acting? Over writing? .. is just so horribly distracting.

An example is when Lydia tells Angela about the baby's father. Jane's reaction is just SO over the top, so unbelievable, so unrealistic!

If Angela had reacted more overtly, THAT would have made sense.

Anyway, it's one episode and I'll still watch it again tomorrow, just like I've never seen it before.

Just overlook the once-in-awhile really BAD moments and enjoy the rest of the show.
