To celebrate the tenth anniversary of his online horror anthology Split Lip, Sam Costello has launched a Kickstarter campaign for a hardcover collection featuring 13 of the best and creepiest Split Lip stories. We also have images and details on Funko’s third wave of Sdcc 2016 exclusives—including a Doctor Strange Pop! vinyl figure—as well as preview pages from Dark Horse’s trade paperback release of the comic book series Living with the Dead.
Split Lip Kickstarter: From Kickstarter: “Split Lip is an anthology of self-contained horror comics written by Sam Costello and drawn by artists from all over the world. It is often compared to The Twilight Zone and Night Gallery. Influences include writers like Shirley Jackson and Clive Barker, comics creators like Junji Ito and Emily Carroll, ghost stories, folk tales and murder ballads.
Calling Split Lip horror is easiest, but it’s more accurate to call it weird fiction.

Special mention: Häxan
Directed by Benjamin Christensen
Denmark / Sweden, 1922
Genre: Documentary
Häxan (a.k.a The Witches or Witchcraft Through The Ages) is a 1922 silent documentary about the history of witchcraft, told in a variety of styles, from illustrated slideshows to dramatized reenactments of alleged real-life events. Written and directed by Benjamin Christensen, and based partly on Christensen’s study of the Malleus Maleficarum, Häxan is a fine examination of how superstition and the misunderstanding of mental illness could lead to the hysteria of the witch-hunts. At the time, it was the most expensive Scandinavian film ever made, costing nearly 2 million Swedish krona. Although it won acclaim in Denmark and Sweden, the film was banned in the United States and heavily censored in other countries for what were considered, at that time, graphic depictions of torture, nudity, and sexual perversion. Depending on which version you’re watching, the commentary is...

Still reeling from Suits’ fantastic first season finale that saw “friend” Trevor let the cat out of the bag in terms of Mike Ross (Patrick James) lack of legal credentials? Well, imagine how Jessica Pearson (Ginna Torres), of Pearson Hardman felt? We did! Which is precisely why we accepted an invitation to visit the Toronto-based set of Suits in an effort to get to the bottom of things. What follows are a handful of second season scooplets from fan favorite Gina Torres (Firefly, Alias), who was only too happy to take a break from shooting to tease how her character will react to learning that Harvey Spector and Mike Ross put her professional life on the line, the after-math that is the wrath of Jessica, and what other surprises and challenges are in store for the character when the hit USA series kicks off its second season on June 14th.
