One of the greatest scenes in all of television

Warning: Spoilers
The scene where he reveals to the entire audience about not only his past, but his insecurities, his fears, and what still haunts him what so entrancing. The fact that there is no sly cut or break to ease the tension makes it even better, you are forced to watch. When he was building up to revealing he was raped, I wasn't sure if he was going to make it obvious, but no, he makes sure the entire audience knows he's been raped, and that's he's also stalked, and that he lost the only meaningful relationship in his life because of what happened to him. It's the perfect payoff, and the perfect use of shock value (for once).

The acting really conveys that, Richard Gadd's performance in that scene is unfathomable, it's truly perfect. I also like to commend the audience's reaction, specifically his friends, their faces just wreak of learning your close coworker you worked with for years went through so much pain.

Another thing to note in that scene, is that Martha makes up very little of it, just shows how most of his pain was derived from other things. I don't think anything could top this scene for a long time, Richard Gadd is amazing.

Off the scale.

Warning: Spoilers
Donny prepares for the finals, but Martha finds a new way to torment him, by targeting his family.

I didn't think this show still had the capacity to surprise me, but once again, I come away from an episode somewhat speechless.

What can you say about this? Richard Gadd, take a bow, not just for the writing, or the behind the scenes work, but the acting performance, if this doesn't sink the pit of your stomach, then nothing will, that scene on the stage was sensational.

Mark Lewis Jones and Amanda Root were great as Donny's parents, his reactions to her seemed very real, I think the way most of us would retaliate.

Once again, I have no idea what the next episode is going to have to offer, I just don't want it to end.

10/10.

A normal bloke is completely crushed

Warning: Spoilers
I don't really write reviews. I am sitting here now wondering how I am going to fill in the 509 characters still required. I sit in my lunch break every day and watch a 1 hour episode of something or other to distance myself from the general mundanity of working life. Having watched the previous 5 episodes of Baby Reindeer, I have been alternately amused and horrified by the occurrences in Donny's life. This is a true story which does make it punch a bit harder but still, I am sitting at work watching it through a computer screen so there is always a distance as with any program. However, the final ten minutes of this episode were so incredibly powerful that I was no longer sitting at work. I was in the audience, watching Donny spill his guts. I can't sit at work crying but that's ok - I was sitting in the audience crying. I berated the idiots for walking out, I shouted out to Donny, to let him know that at least one person in this audience empathised and gave a damn. Frustratingly, he couldn't hear me. Only when the credits rolled did the reality suddenly snap back in. Still, it didn't completely. I was still with Donny for the rest of my working day. Probably, part of me always will be.

There, I have written or review. Or maybe I was just rambling. Here's the review - one of the most powerful things I have ever watched. I really don't have much more to say.
