A very good portrait of the famous author

The biography of Margaret Mitchell is a bit unusual because she wrote the best-selling book of the 20th century...and it was her only book! This installment of "American Masters" discusses her life, her legacy and her book "Gone With the Wind".

The book begins with Mitchell's childhood, which seems rather sad considering how cold her mother was towards her. As she grew, Margaret was a bit of a wild girl and liked to walk to her own drummer. Then, as a marriage woman with husband #2, she settled down to a relatively normal life. But bored with reading, she decided to write a story herself and in 1936 "Gone With the Wind" debuted and America went nuts...and the rest you'll have to see for yourself.

This is a relatively short biography but considering the subject, it seemed just fine. One of the better stories of Ms. Mitchell's life.
