Had its potential ,but eventually choose to be another mediocre isekai anime

By no means The Magical Revolution of the Reincarnated Princess and the Genius Young Lady is a terrible ,or even a bad anime. But it's such a shame once you think about what it could had been. The production is decent ,all voice actors/actresses give solid performances, and not to mention it has a very charming opening. All of this makes you think that it could be a great ,if not ,enjoyable adventure. But things started to fall apart as the show went on. The core of the story suddenly changed from "two girls created novel inventions with their intelligence and started a magical revolution " into tons of fighting sequences and political disputes. Of course it can still offer great experience if you treat these topics properly, but sadly that's not the case here. The execution that author choose is so average and repetitive, you have already seen similar storylines many times from other animations. So why wasted all of your advantages and recklessly tried to do something you weren't capable of? It's just kind of sad to see this anime desperately rushed into an unconvincing and inconsistent ending ,knowing that an anime that could had been one of the best in this season end up in a mid place. Overall I think "mediocre " is the best word to describe it. This anime has a unique topic( how the protagonist use her memory of past live and intelligence to change the world) which can stand a chance of being great. But in the end of the day, It just another "meh " anime people probably will forget in the next season.

The Magical Revolution of the Reincarnated Princess and the Genius Young Lady
Tweekums24 March 2023
This series is set in the Kingdom of Palettia, a nation where the ruling classes can use magic. Our protagonist is Princess Anisphia Wynn Palettia, Anis for short. She loves magic but can't use it herself. Instead she uses the scientific skills she remembers from her previous life, on Earth. One day she learns that her brother has ended his engagement to Euphyllia. She had been due to be the next monarch but following accusations she loses the position. Anis befriends her. Together they will have to work hard to re-establish Euphyllia's reputation.

I thought this was a decent enough series. The characters are rather fun and there is some enjoyable action. The story is enjoyable while watching but ultimately felt forgettable amongst all the other series in the crowded fantasy genre. I found the earlier episodes, where we got to know the characters to be more fun than the somewhat cliché conflict in the later episodes; it did have a good finale at least. Now it has finished airing viewers won't have to wait a week between episodes which is obviously a bonus. The yuri elements add some originality and it manages to avoid being salacious. Overall I'd say this is worth watching if you enjoy the genre, it isn't a must see though.

These comments are based on watching the series in Japanese with English subtitles.

A flawed blend of the generic and the original

'The Magical Revolution of the Reincarnated Princess and the Genius Young Lady' ticks all the boxes of a generic fantasy setting: we get a vaguely European-looking kingdom, an aristrocracy that can use magic, and a bunch of monsters that are kinda-sorta kept at bay by knights.

Our protagonist is the "Marauder Princess" Anis, who despite being the King's oldest child cannot use magic herself. Since she remembers her previous life on modern-day Earth, she instead invents the field of "magicology" to build magical devices like a witch's broom, a magical sword, a magical tea kettle, and a bookshelf filled with other stuff that is only shown in the background and never mentioned.

In comes Lady Euphyllia, who after having her betrothal to the Crown Prince dissolved is stolen away by Anis.

The story itself is entertaining enough, although it doesn't really do anything groundbreaking. Similarly, the characters are likeable but generic: the protagonist is reckless and childish yet competent and good-hearted (who both in temperament as well as design is surprisingly similar to Lycoris Recoil's Chisato); the sidekick-slash-love-interest is quiet, proper, and dutilful (and, yes, at least somewhat reminiscent of Lycoris Recoil's Takina). The side characters are similarly likeable and similarly uninspired.

My biggest gripe about the characters is that the show breaks the "Show, don't tell" rule, telling us repeatedly that Euphyllia is a genius of unparalleled renown (it's even in the show's title!), yet the most intelligent thing she ever does is hold a mildly clever speech. Similarly, her character development seems to happen mostly off-screen: at the start, she's the demure Crown Prince's betrothed, and at the end she's a capable fighter, but I was not quite convinced by this development.

One of the show's high points is that the action climax occurs already in episode nine of twelve, leaving room for the dramatic climax. This is well-executed and touching, hitting topics such as duty and self-sacrifice. I was honestly captivated by this part and pretty much binge-watched the second half of the series.

The second high point is the relationship between the characters, which is surprisingly sweet and loving. I expected the usual fare, where the show at best hints at the possibility of two people of the same gender being in love (or the direct opposite, where the entire story is structured around the torrid lesbian love affair, because that's how you entice a certain audience). 'Magical Revolution' is pretty casual about this, reminding me a fair bit of the She-Ra reboot.

As for the production, the art style and animations are perfectly fine but not outstanding in any way. The character design is fairly generic but nicely varied. The Japanese voice acting is solid, the soundtrack gets the job done, and the pacing is reasonable. There is little to no fan service but a bit of violence (i.e. Blood but no real gore).

Ultimately, 'Magical Revolution' is a reasonably good show that probably noone will remember in a few years, except perhaps for having an openly gay protagonist couple. Personally, I liked the show and wouldn't mind watching more like it, but neither did it knock off my socks.

The Magical Revolution of the Reincarnated Princess and the Genius Young Lady

I consider, The Magical Revolution of the Reincarnated Princess and the Genius Young Lady, the best anime of the year, 2023. If you are looking to watch a progressive realistic anime, this one hits the mark. The first season was cohesive, from episode one thru twelfth. I believe this anime will open many doors, facilitating or encouraging the anime world to invest in other genres/storylines. I cannot wait to see how the world of anime will expand in the next coming years. Thanks to, The Magical Revolution of the Reincarnated Princess and the Genius Young Lady.

PS: I melted after watching episode 12 of the first season.

OMFG

OMFG OMFG OMFG this was so heartbreaking actually almost hurts more then the demon slayer extremly emotional serious moments and rezero.

The animation is ok.

Design ,art is very good likeable warm colorful.

The characters and the story felt extremly real, almost not att all dull.

The story was full of surprizes, not dull almost at all.

Although I did watch the whole thing on 2x speed like I almost always do.

The plot and the characters definitly have an arc in which they explore and evolve.

The battle scenes are worth it,although kinda little.

The style is very atmospheric, not many battles and battle boss action.
