In Forever Knight (1992), the show which "Vampire Cop" seems to draw inspiration from, it was the coroner not his partner, at least for the first two seasons, who knew his true identity. For someone who was supposedly a Detective, his partner did not pick up on his vampiric tendencies.
Special Appearance by:
- Layla Laughlin - played by Donna Mills of Knots Landing (1979) fame
- Stoker Ramsey's partner (Vampire Cop) - played by Jordana Brewster from the Fast & Furious (2009) franchise
Method acting is a technique or type of acting in which an actor aspires to encourage sincere and emotionally expressive performances by fully inhabiting the role of the character. In this case, former actor Brendan Acres, was a proponent of this school of thought, researching and acquiring first-hand experience on the subject matter. Actors like Daniel Day-Lewis or Vincent D'Onofrio would spend a considerable amount of time immersing themselves in a role, sometimes up to a year.
Facts gleaned from the episode:
- Porphyria, Vampire Disease, is a genetic blood disease which causes afflicted individuals to have an aversion to light, and suffer from gum recession (appearance of fang-like teeth)
- Vlad Tepes (Vlad the Impaler aka Dracula), Romanian Prince, suffered from Porphyria which was untreated and led to paranoia, hallucinations, and homicidal ideation
- Across the street from the famed Bronson Gate of Paramount Studios is the apartment building where Bela Lugosi, the world's most famous Dracula (1931), died of a heart attack in 1956. Now, Lugosi was found in his bed, naked, clutching a script to "The Final Curtain," movie he was set to star in for schlock film maestro Edward D. Wood Jr..
- Elizabeth Báthory was the first female serial killer in history. The phrase "bathed in blood" originated with her, supposedly, she would drain her victims and then washed herself in their blood.
- Rhnull is known as, uh, "Golden Blood," the rarest blood type, only 40 people on the entire planet have it with six in the United States.
- Most people have eight common blood types: O positive, O negative, A positive , A negative, AB positive, AB negative.
- There is actually, millions of blood types, determined by the presence or absence of certain antigens, but there's also a protein called the Rh factor, which determines if your blood is positive or negative. Most people have some Rh factor. But if you lack it entirely, you are Rhnull, you are golden.
The clips from "Vampire Cop" suggest it has the same plot device (advances the story forward) as "Pushing Daisies (2007)" and "iZombie (2015)", that is an object or the remains of a person contains a memory that can be readily accessed by touch or consumption --in this case, Brendon immerses himself in the details of the victim's murder by tasting their blood .
