Noted character actor Murli Sharma shares that while he has played the baddie in all his films with Prakash Jha including Apaharan and Chakravyuh, all the roles have been very different from each other. But Murli, who is also playing a baddie in Jha’s upcoming Jai GangaaJal as well, reveals that apart from being the villain, his roles in the Jha films have one big similarity. “There is always a chase sequence right before my character gets killed off, so I am always running before being killed,” he exclaims.
The actor was made to run in Apaharan, while in Chakravyuh too he gets chased in the jungles. And in Jai GangaaJal too there is a chase sequence shot on Murli. “My role in Jai GangaaJal is completely different from my previous roles and has an effeminate streak. So, I thought for a change I would not have a chase sequence in this one.

How are you feeling that Humshakals is about to release worldwide now?
It’s just hectic as I am promoting the movie now. I have almost given eight months to a year to the making of this film. I am really excited actually. Mumbai, March 9: What is the best way to reduce tension? Spending time with the family, says acclaimed actor Manoj Bajpayee.
"Getting candid with my family the best stress-buster. One look at them and I feel every trouble is worth it. Do you think so too?" -- tweeted Manoj who is married to actress Neha. The couple has a daughter.
Recently seen in different kind of roles in "Chakravyuh", "Special 26" and "Shootout at Wadala", the actor is known for getting under the skin of his character.
And he confesses that sometimes such involvement with his role makes it difficult for him to differentiate between reel and real.
"Switching between roles, I often get so into character that it gets difficult to differentiate.

Now it couldn't have been more innovative than this. For Sanjay Chhel directed upcoming film Kill The Rapist, it would be audience that would decide its climax. Accordingly, the makers would take a call on whether the character of a rapist in the film would be killed or spared. "This would be through online polling that would commence from today and go on till end of January," informs our source, "After watching the promo, a viewer would get an option of choosing an apt finale. Accordingly, the makers would retain the chosen ending for the film which is aiming for release in February-March timeframe." This innovative marketing campaign has been a brainchild of producer Siddhartha M Jain who has earlier produced Ragini Mms. "In the times when power is in the hands of 'aam junta', it was just apt that they decide how to deal with men who are behind such heinous crimes.

L ipstick Under My Burkha is one of the twenty-three films selected for the co- production market of Film Bazaar 2013. We spoke to the director Alankrita Shrivastava:
Alankrita Shrivastava
Tell us about your project. What language will it be in?
Set in the crowded bylanes of small town India, Lipstick Under My Burkha (Lipstick Waale Sapne) chronicles the secret lives of four women who dream small dreams of freedom.
Dodging prying eyes, battling fear, they go about their days, reading what they shouldn’t be, singing what they shouldn’t be, feeling what they shouldn’t be and wanting what they shouldn’t be wanting. Through the colourful kaleidoscope of their world, we see these women secretly trying to live a little of their small lipstick dreams. In essence the film is about their search for freedom. Through the four stories, I want to dig deep into what it means to be a woman.

Looking at work of other actors for inspiration isn't an alien concept. However it was an altogether different ballgame for Anjali Patil (seen as a Naxalite in Prakash Jha's Chakravyuh) when she was preparing for the part of a victim turned aggressor in Kill The Rapist?. Since the 'Anti-Rape' film is pretty layered and required the central protagonist to seep in the complex take on the state of affairs, she was suggested by her producer-director team of Siddhartha M Jain and Sanja...

Esha won Miss Photogenic in the Femina Miss India contest in 2007 and featured in the Kingfisher Calendar in 2010, before being spotted and starring in her debut film. She had one of the busiest debut years with not one but three films, Jannat 2, Raaz 3 and Chakravyuh. Just when we thought she’d get the ‘Bhatt girl’ title she surprised us in the last release, a Prakash Jha directorial. At no. 5 we have the dusky beauty who won everyone’s heart with the notorious ‘serial kisser’ in not one of but two films in her very first year. Thus far she’s gotten mixed reviews for her performance however her appearance impressed us enough to warrant a position on this countdown.

Chakravyuh opened to a positive response with critics and audiences giving the movie a thumbs up. The movie enthralled the entire nation with a very strong message and outstanding performances by the ensemble cast. It released on the 24th of October and within two months of release, Eros Now is all set for Chakravyuh’s grand online premiere. Eros Now offers full length feature Hindi films in addition to songs and music videos.
Prakash Jha’s Chakravyuh deals with a sensitive topic of the Naxalite movement which poses to be India’s biggest threat. The movie exposes the core motive of the outburst and also gives the audiences an insight into the Naxalite (Maoist) problem that has been spreading across the nation. The fight between the Capitalists and the Communists is highlighted and it showcases both sides of the movement without being biased.

While most of the established actors think twice before changing their looks, there are some who constantly work towards experimenting with their looks to stay true to the character & offer fresh change to their audiences.
Leonardo Di Caprio, Johnny Depp and Brad Pitt are the some of the Hollywood actors who work extensively to look different and convincing in every role they play.
In the Bollywood brigade, the two actors that have never failed to surprise us with their looks are Aamir Khan and Arjun Rampal. Aamir acquired six-pack in Ghajini and immediately lost the abs to play a student in 3 Idiots. Arjun Rampal too has been constantly reviving his looks to suit the character he’s playing. He is seen relentlessly experimenting with his looks to suit the varied roles he plays.
Rock On! saw Arjun sporting long locks as he played the rock star guitarist in the film.

Shahid Kapoor is reportedly having a career rethink after experiencing several box-office flops. The actor was last seen in Teri Meri Kahani opposite ex-girlfriend Priyanka Chopra.
[Pictured: Shahid Kapoor with Priyanka Chopra] A source told Bollywood Hungama: "During the last one year Shahid has turned down 15 projects, among them were Mira Nair's The Reluctant Fundamentalist and Prakash Jha's Chakravyuh. He insisted on a complete hard-bound script from every filmmaker, big or small. "This naturally didn't go down well with the likes of Jha and Nair who have worked with the biggest names in Bollywood and abroad, without having to commit a full hard-bound script to the actor. "Only Aamir Khan used to demand a hard-bound script and he would even insist on signing every page (more)...

Shah Rukh Khan will not attend Arjun Rampal's 40th birthday celebrations, it has been claimed. The Chakravyuh star's wife Mehr has organised a party for the actor in Marrakesh on November 29 and, while Shah Rukh's wife Gauri Khan will attend, The Times of India reports that the Jab Tak Hai Jaan star will not. "And not because Srk has other commitments and cannot be at Marrakesh," said a source. "This is the alibi that's being set forward for Srk's absence at Arjun's party on 29th. But the truth is, Shah Rukh is no more on talking terms with Arjun. Their wives continue to be thick pals. In fact Gauri Khan is on top of Mehr Jessia's guest list for her husband's birthday party." The actors, who became good friends after working together on Om Shanti Om, reportedly fell out (more)...

Mumbai, Nov 5: Actress Esha Gupta, who broke away from her glamorous image with the role of a police officer in "Chakravyuh", would now like to feature in an action-packed film.
"One major film that I would love to do in my life is a full-on action film and not the sexy kind of action. It should be a lot of action, jumping off the cars and buildings, all blood and all. I don't know why I like such films and I feel that I can do them," the 26-year-old said here Sunday at the Blender's Pride Fashion show.
Esha made her Bollywood debut with "Jannat.

Mumbai, Oct 31: Her performance as a Naxalite (Maoist) in Prakash Jha's "Chakravyuh" has won rave reviews for Anjali Patil across the board, but the actress says she never aspired to act in movies.
"I never aspired to be a movie actress. Being from the National School Of Drama (Nsd), acting was and is my passion. I also used to design sets for the stage. So I've been associated with theatre from the time I became an actor," Anjali said.
"There was no yearning to be in films. But now that 'Chakravyuh' has opened a new.

Chakravyuh has enthralled the whole nation with the outstanding performances and a very strong message. The audiences, critics and the filmy brigade are all going gaga over this political thriller that gives one insights about the Naxalite movement in India.
Prakash Jha has used an extremely balanced approach to create an illustration around something as complex and sensitive as Naxalism. He has equally respected both the counters and the supporters and exposed the core
motive of the outburst.
The film has redefined Arjun Rampal’s acting skills as he says it’s the most intense role he has played till date. Talking about his performance, Hrithik Roshan tweeted, “Chakravyuh a war u can’t escape a truth u cant ignore! @rampalarjun continues 2 b an inspiration!Dude ur a rockstar!Well done team chkrvyh!”

Arjun Rampal who is in real life a practicing Hindu, has studied the Holy Quran. For the role of the Muslim police officer in Chakravyuh, Arjun closely followed his Man-Friday Raja, who is a Muslim, and learnt the ritual of performing the Namaaz before performing the Namaaz-reciting sequence in Chakravyuh.
"Yeah, my 'boy' Raja who is a Muslim was my coach. It wasn't about getting the character right. It was about making sure that that I didn't overdo or under do it."
Arjun feels Muslim characters are constantly depicted in a stereotypical way in our films. "It may not be intentional. But a certain tone always creeps in when a Muslim character is portrayed, in the way the character speaks and dresses. I wanted my character to appear normal. He had to look Indian, not Muslim. Becket beckons Bollywood once again. The immortal French play by Jean Anouilh was furnished a sensitive renewability by Hrishikesh Mukherjee in Namak Haraam 38 years ago and then again much later by Govind Nihalani in Dev.
Now the stories of two friends separated by caste creed and ideology who are torn apart by their irreconcilable socio-political differences, is given a seriously spunky spin by Prakash Jha.
Staightaway, let’s get to the point(much in the same vein that the film does). This is Prakash Jha’s most resolutely etched and firmly grounded drama since Mrityudand, and a work way superior to his last two film Raajneeti and Aarakshan both of which suffered to some extent by being scattered in intent and pulled in too many directions.
While here again in Chakravyuh we witness...
