Derek Partridge recently narrated two movies about Leslie Howard (Gone with the Wind), which is ironic because both usually play the parts of tall dapper Englishmen. As a child Derek was booked on a WW2 KLM flight, but was bumped by Leslie Howard. The plane was shot down. Leslie Howard died, but Derek lived.
The movie has several oblique Star Trek references, and Derek Partridge (who plays Captain Pietr in this movie) was the villain in Plato's Stepchildren (1968) from the original Star Trek series. That episode became famous for showing the first interracial kiss (between Kirk an Ohura) on US television.
The script is based on a novel by award winning author, Linnea Sinclair, titled "The Down Home Zombie Blues." The title was changed because there are no characters that the audience would think of as 'zombies.'
