Love the idea but awful matchmakers
jill_wooden1 August 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Great concept which is why giving it an 8, because I hope this show continues BUY with huge changes. The matchmakers did the absolute worst jobs ever. Then blamed one or the other person publicly on camera for things not working out. Sorry if that person had whatever issues why didn't the show know that before casting them?? It literally seemed like there was zero matchmaking at all!!! On these type of shows people usually get so mad at the Americans because they don't learn the culture of the other person enough... well these Americans didn't know where they were going but the out of country partners knew Americans were coming yet obviously learned nothing about Americans because why would the Irish guy think it's ok to constantly say very rude comments to the woman he was hosting? These matches make zero sense, I felt so bad for all of them!! And to top it off why did. Naaem decide while living with another woman he can go on a dating app? If he decided he was fine why didn't he leave???? THEN the show lets him have that woman be on the show?? Made zero sense, and made it feel like the show is not about LOVE. Please make huge changes to this show and to the matchmaking process!! And definitely tame astrology into play as well, a Pisces with a Gemini???? 🤦‍♀️

Promising show with a disappointing ending.

Warning: Spoilers
This show had a great concept-similar to 90 day fiancé, but mostly treated the cast with dignity-not like overly production-driven Jerry Springer sideshow characters. The people featured seemed more "real" than most reality show people.

Still, of all the matches ZERO people ended up even trying to make it work. The only couple who seemed to make it wasn't even matched on the show. Most of these couples never even kissed (that we saw), it was more like "Roommates without borders" than "Love without borders."

There were a lot of people treating others badly, especially the first American woman matched with the Indian guy, and the woman in Panama sleeping with her ex while the American man stayed in her house! The show says "dancing," but she stayed out all night, so that's obviously a euphemism for sex.

The petite Irish man not attracted to the American woman was correct-her makeup is over the top. The lashes and yellow eyeliner were pretty outrageous. However, saying she has "broad" shoulders and calling her "broad" because of it was cruel. She can't change that. Of the two, she was the more attractive, and didn't seem large at all, so I don't get his issue with her looks. You can't force attraction, and I don't think he's a bad guy, but he could've been kinder (she also could've given him teeth whitener for Christmas, as he gave her makeup remover, but she had a little class than that).

Still, these behaviors really were individual, and probably not a controllable outcome of the show.

I would watch another season, but I'd probably stop watching if absolutely NONE of the couples worked out for even a few weeks.

Preventable Disasters - Please No Season 2 Until Fixes Made
brooks25013 February 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This show aspires to up the ante in the international romance department and one-up TLC's "90 Day Fiancé." Unfortunately, we're treated to five couples who never should have been paired, and we feel bad for all of them.

1. Danna & Brian (Ireland) - Early on we learn that she's really not his type. He rates her a "2.5 out of 10" That's an unrecoverable red flag and should have been spotted in questionnaires and interviews.

2. Phillip & Carmen: They're both physically attracted to each other, and both are nice people. But let's throw in a huge showstopper: He's on a celibacy kick. And she early on voices her need for physical connection. So this match is also doomed from the start.

3. Naeem - Chandra: Here's another screening failure. Chandra still has something going on with her not-so ex-boyfriend. And, ironically, Naeem, the only licensed therapist on the show, manages to find a better match on his own.

4. Aaron-Mael: We learn early on that Aaron is attracted to big, strapping men. So, of course, the host pairs him with a smaller guy and, surprise, there's no spark. Very unfair to both gentlemen.

5. Shreyas - Garleen/Gabby: The young man seems ready for love. But Garleen is very prickly from the start, and it's actually not surprising that after the show she's in a lesbian relationship. Gabby, on the other hand, is very congenial, but is not cut out for overseas living. Yet another screening failure. Has she ever lived overseas for more than a month or does she just have a fantasy in mind?

A quick Google search of the host, Arica Angelo, shows that she has no academic or therapy credentials. Yes, these things matter. A similar show, "Married at First Sight", has a team of real therapists matching the couples and, of course, there are inevitable challenges and conflicts-that's what makes for "good TV" right? But there are no show-stoppers out of the gate. The couples are much better matched which is only fair to not set them up for failure.

Matchmakers could have done a better job
danielle_nathanson15 November 2023
I feel bad for the people who participated in this experiment because they were matched poorly and I feel like some of them were made out to be blamed for the poor outcome but come on, you can't expect people to throw away their values and principles for someone who doesn't have the same values or beliefs. Matching people based on their core beliefs and values should have been crucial but clearly was overlooked in some of the couples. The communication styles between most of these couples was another mismatch error. If people are a good match then why are they arguing and bickering and criticizing one another so much. Clearly the matchmaker made some errors unless they did it on purpose to up the drama. The title of the show has the word LOVE but I have yet to see love on this show.

Wish's version of 90 Day Fiancé
destiny_west26 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I feel bad for the title, honestly I do. I actually am enjoying the series. I think it just needs to have a few wrinkles ironed out and maybe it might come together better next season if there is one.

It is a fair bit different than 90 Day. This time a 'match maker' of sorts. Gets two people from different parts of the world and matches them together and then without any notice, one of them has to move to the other side of the world and live with that person for a set amount of time, so they have never met, never chatted, nothing!!

All of this based on being matched by a match maker.

It is a huge deal right?

Well I'm up to episode 9 and so far the so called match maker has been pretty lousy at matching people.

Regardless it is a very interesting show to say the least.

It is a different twist than the whole 90 Day thing. I guess its more like Naked and Afraid. But the naked is completely up to you.

Anyway I am hanging in to the end of the season as I want to continue to watch these train wrecks crash and burn. Would I recommend? Yes, give it a go. If you like the dating reality show thing.
