Sex & Nudity

  • A man and woman flirt and kiss at a bar.
  • A woman is pregnant throughout the film and this is referenced many times in dialogue.
  • Many children and adults are seen in swimwear. No nudity, however.

Violence & Gore

  • An elderly man is beaten by a child with his cane. Blood drips from his forehead. When a man leaves the scene to get medical help, the elderly man is dragged away, leaving a trail of blood. The man follows the trail and finds a gang of children kicking, beating, and stabbing the elderly man. A teenage girl drops a large rock on the elderly man's head offscreen, killing him.
  • A man opens a hotel room door and finds two bloody corpses sprawled on the floor and furniture.
  • A man threatens a woman and another man with a broken beer bottle.
  • A man finds a group of children eating another child. Closeups on the corpse's ripped-open torso and missing jaw.
  • A man's daughter lures him into a group of children who proceed to beat and kill him.
  • In an extended montage, children engage in many gruesome acts involving human corpses and body parts -- tossing an eyeball around using a stick, painting the nails on a severed foot, playing a game of hot potato with a severed head, and making a necklace out of bloody ears on a string, among others.
  • A man and woman find a police officer's corpse on the floor.
  • A child almost shoots a woman, but a man shoots and kills the child first. Blood drips onto the wall and floor.
  • Though not explicitly stated, the history of the island that a couple visit consists of many manic, feral, bloodthirsty children killing all of the adults on the island and any tourists who visit and use mind control to convert other children into murderers.

Profanity

  • Several uses of "fuck," "shit," and many other milder swear words.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Lots of drinking and partying at a bar and during a cultural festival.
  • Many people drink throughout, including a pregnant woman.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Jump scenes when finding hiding children and corpses.
  • An extended montage of children playing with severed body parts can be disturbing.
  • A few intense chase sequences between tourists and murderous children.
  • The film has an overall uneasy feel, particularly with the absence of adults and haunting presence of the children.

Spoilers

The Parents Guide items below may give away important plot points.

Sex & Nudity

  • A woman dies in childbirth, and lots of blood pours down her leg. Her significant other appears very distressed and places his head underneath her dress, between her legs. However, this is not sexual in nature.

Violence & Gore

  • A woman sits trapped in a room, surrounded by children banging on the windows, desperate to get inside to kill her. She radios for help, but she is unable to understand the man on the other end. The children break the lock on the door, pouring in and killing the woman offscreen. A man later finds the radio with bloody handprints on it.
  • A woman dies in childbirth. Blood pours from under her dress onto her leg and floor. Her significant other cremates her.
  • In a fit of rage and vengeance, a man rapidly shoots down a group of children. He drowns and beats many more, turning the water around the beach blood red. A Coast Guard ship arrives and, seeing the man killing the children, shoots and kills the man. Coast Guard officers walk onto the beach, unaware of what is happening. Children quickly shoot and kill the officers and hijack their ship, heading for the mainland.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • In a cliffhanger ending, children hijack a Coast Guard ship after killing everyone on board and use it to leave the island where they have been isolated from adults (to whom they are a threat) and head to the mainland.
