It gets better and better

The series gets better and better. It's less about the careers of all these fine fashion creators , it's more about human relationships and behavior in general, specially, in times of crisis, and it's about the direct influences on people's fate. The historical setting of the series in this very special period at the end of the war in Paris makes it very Interesting and worth watching.

Performances are great, I personally even like the slow pace. The only annoying thing is the use of these milky camera filters in order to give arge series an "old" look.

I'm very curious to see the following episodes.

best episode yet, but even more schizo

At this point, I'm really questioning the premise of this whole series. The most interesting parts of the story have nothing at all to do with fashion. Christian Dior's wartime experiences make for a good story, but couldn't you have said the same about thousands or millions of French people who didn't go on to fame and fortune? It's not his fame and fortune (which is still in the future) that makes this story compelling.

But at least his story is good. Then we have the other half, about Coco Chanel. Her story is mashed together with Dior's because they happen to be in the same profession but so far have virtually nothing to do with each other. If they were bitter, famous rivals on the public stage, maybe I could see it. But Dior is just getting started while Chanel has become old hat.

And the tenor of their stories have diverged completely. Dior's is serious and gripping; Chanel's is a pathetic farce, holding her up for ridicule for being stupid, venal and shallow. Maybe she deserves it, but why waste the screentime on her nonsense? I wish the partisans had just chopped off her head in Paris or whatever. Just make this about Dior, please.

Fantastic Episode, like Julia

So I've been lukewarm on this show. It's been slow and the characters are not sharply drawn. However, this episode (5) was the payoff. The scene at the train station belongs with some of the best Holocaust movie scenes from over the years. When contemporaries shamelessly ignore history and cavalierly traffic in selfishness, they should be "sentenced" to watch this scene. Specifically, the French Resistance is being discussed here, but the lessons go well beyond.

I'm hoping we get deeper into fashion and the motives and rivalry of Dior and Chanel as the episodes evolve. I do appreciate the quality selections Apple TV puts forth.
