The first episode after the mid-season cliffhanger turns out to be not all that much of a cliffhanger, with everyone making it through just fine. Given we have already seen the demise of Chief Hawkins this season, I was sceptical that there would be anyone else shuffling off the mortal coil.
That said, One Chicago shows have generally been some of the best at hiding cast departures - Jesse Spencer, for example - until right up to their final episode goes to air.
Emma Jacobs is back, and Violet earns more of her enmity when she has a meeting with Emma's boss at Internal Affairs. It's all a little cliche but we'll see where it goes.
Oh, and Ms. Goodwin from Chicago Med makes an appearance after Sylvie installs a safe surrender box at Firehouse 51 for people to drop off abandoned infants. I gather something will come of this in the near future if the showrunners have gone to the trouble of getting a Med cameo to set it up. Will it be Brett or someone else becoming - at least temporarily - a parent in an episode to come?
