The programme will probably focus on John's 2nd great grandfather Charles Bishop b circa 1824 in London. Charles was a well-known bass singer. He was a bandsman in the British Army, rising to the position of bandmaster. He had an exceptionally good "basso-profundo" voice. He retired from the Army and joined the Church - he was the Solo and Principal Bass at Chichester Cathedral and York Minster. He later joined Hague's Minstrels and travelled to America and other places. He later settled in Liverpool.

His obituary reads: "His musical and other Friends are of a large number, and it is with confidence I anticipate their commendation of this effort to protect his name from stigma, and to preserve the memory unsullied of one who for the 74 years he passed on this earth, strive for and succeeded in gaining the esteem and affection of all with whom he associated. W.A. Hollis, 1899."
