Strip Mahjong Battle Royale: Fan service film
Platypuschow13 February 2019
Strip Mahjong, what could you possibly expect from a movie with a title like that? And not even remotely surprisingly it's Japanese so immediately assumptions had to be made that it was going to be seven shades of messed up.

It tells the story of 4 girls who are kidnapped and forced to play a degenerate game of Mahjong where failed rounds result in losing clothing and bust equates to death. All while being viewed by the perverse snuff liking viewers.

Technically this falls under a sub-genre of horror I really like but the wafer thin plot and extra fan service really doesn't leave it as a credible film.

Despite the nudity it's actually fairly tame stuff, it's more titillating than gratuitous so it won't appeal to those after fan service nor people after an actual competently made cogent film.

It by all rights could have been worse but everything about it just comes across as seedy. To make matters worse if you don't understand the rules of Mahjong then the whole thing comes across a bit impotent, I didn't "Get" what I was watching.

An extremely niche film and I'm not sure quite who it's aimed at.

The Good:

Cast are actually fairly good

The Bad:

Not the most comfortable viewing

Lack of understanding in Mahjong damages the experience

More of a pervy experience than a feature film

Mindless Entertaining

Warning: Spoilers
Four abducted women have round up amongst them a hefty sum of debt on online gaming, and they get a chance to earn it all back and then some but only one of them can win.

They have to play rounds of Mahjong, and the losers of each round have to take off their clothes item by item and when there's nothing left they will bare their soul and give up their lives.

This movie is silly, ludicrous even but it's entertaining. This movie is a made to be a parody of reality shows and snuff films altogether, and though it has a dumb and predictable plot and whether the filmmakers wanted it or not, it does make the viewer for a second think of how far have reality television has gone.

It was funny and stupid but it's not boring, it serves as a parody.

DON'T LOOK AT ME!

Warning: Spoilers
The movie delivers for its title. Finally somebody has combined my two favorite things, Japanese women forced to strip and mahjong. Why did it take so long? Four women, a lawyer, teen idol, uptown girl, and a fretter are taken and forced to play mahjong for their clothes and their life to the eyes of a pay per view Internet audience. These women were selected due to the mahjong debt they have ran up. Equipped with deadly zap collars there is no escape for the women.

The women " strip down to their souls" in a slow fashion with the first nudity happening 30 minutes into the film. Mahjong looks like a game similar to gin rummy except played with tiles. Perhaps the main criticism of the film is that it carefully avoids full frontal nudity.

Guide: F-bomb, sex/rape, groping, girl/girl action, whipping, and of course 5 girls going topless.
