A well remembered show.

As the new series approaches, I had to have a look back on the original.

Paul seemed to genuinely adore, love and worship dogs, it was very easy to see how the entertainer felt, probably preferred dogs to people.

A wonderful series, which was often funny, moving and sad, Paul very much giving the human angle, emphasising man's sheer adoration for dogs.

So many wonderful episodes, and I'm certain had he not passed away, he'd have still been presenting it, giving us more wonderful stories.

I have no doubts that a series of negative reviews will appear simply because of Hammond, and I get why people are sick of the sight of her, but it's worth remembering, when Paul did this show, it was all about the dogs, not about him.

9/10.

Heartbroken

I'm so sad that Paul O'Grady is gone. I know the people and animals at Battersea will miss him dreadfully. His warm and loving heart would give us all a vision of the needs of those animals. He would break down at the cruelty and unfairness of life, and rejoice at the small victories. His love of the puppies always made me smile. His running love story with the dogs, and telling everyone that he didn't want another dog. And he would make everyone fall in love with the goofiest looking dogs that needed that special love and attention. There will never be another Paul. He was one of a kind, and can't be replaced.

Love Dogs Love this Show

I love everything about this show. The harsh realities the health issues faced by some of the dogs is sad but they are presented directly and sensitively, helping everyone to be accepting of life and what we can and cannot control. The show is full of light, laughter, love and beautiful dogs. I love Paul, the staff, the bright Spring/Summer colour, the photography, the music choices and of course the dogs. I watch it at the end of the day and it always lifts me up. I just love this show!

With love

I absolutely love 'For the love of dogs'. Alison Hammond had a hard task of replacing Paul, which she done well. I do feel more viewers would tune in if the hosts had a connection with Paul. His daughter, grandchild and husband would definitely bring in the crowds if they hosted together. Bringing their connection with what he absolutely loved and the passion for Battersea. His dedication and compassion made our hearts beat with love. Viewers knowing he has passed on his love for dogs would be a breath of fresh air. I'm sure Battersea would love his legacy carried on with his own family. Karen.

Paul O'Grady: For the Love of Dogs

Paul O'Grady - a man truly worthy of the all too often thrown around title of 'National Treasure' - deserves every success with this programme.

It's a gem, and all the awards (often voted for by the public) are much deserved.

I hope it continues for a long time.

I am amazed that a charity as big as Battersea Dogs and Cats Home is unable to do the best for such a young dog who has a long life ahead of them. Surely the perfect solution for that poor dog would be the Supervet to fix her hips and a prosthetic wheel on her front foot to help her with future mobility, especially as a breed this will obviously only get worse and more painful with age.

That surely can't be the best option for such a young dog, Amazed.
