After the Lakers win another title, the ball bounces with drama on and off the court.

'beat L. A.' episode 6 from season 2 of "HBO's" "Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty" was again a drama filled and a plenty of happenings and plenty to take in episode. It begins with the Lakers again winning another "NBA" championship this time again against the 76ers to finish the 1981-82 season. The fame and power is once again felt and it's a breeze for Riley and his players during the 82-83 season only once again instead of Boston they meet the 76ers in the finals. Only this time the more rugged and physical 76ers with Moses Malone and Dr. J. had the Lakers number by sweeping them 4-0! So changes are to be made this results in the trading of guard veteran Norm Nixon. Aside from this change other happenings occur, Magic proposes to Michigan girlfriend Cookie and other personal dramas occur off the court as team owner Jerry Buss is served divorce papers from his new love, as he still has to take care of things also from his first marriage, and team captain Kareem has a house fire that destroys many of his personal things. Thru it all these setbacks light passion and rediscovery for the Lakers during the 1983-84 season with their play despite personal troubles and defeats they have only one thing in mind the "Boston Celtics"! So finally it's set for the 1984 "NBA Finals", it's Celtics-Lakers and Magic against Bird! Overall good well done episode that covered much and moved along well thru a year and a season as it sets up just super great for the 1984 showdown and the season finale.

Equally great episode to previous one; was that jay mohr, now husband in real life to jeannie buss playing cap's agent tom collins? Not listed in credits, but I think it is him. They are really painting the picture of what was going on behind the scenes with the main players. Jason clarke is superb as west, as is cap portrayal by solomon hughes. Too many great performances to mention them all. This really gives one an idea of what was happening back in the 80s in l.a. I really hope there is a season three as next episode is last of the season. Please let season three happen. Please. John C deserves an award.

One of the best entries yet!! Adrien Brody is brilliant

A really fantastic episode! Adrien Brody turns in his best performance yet in the whole series and honestly one of the best of his career, which is saying a lot. The rest of the cast is also spectacular, as they always are. This episode, just like the last one, really flew by quickly and is always thoroughly entertaining. The storyline in this episode has clear momentum driving it and never missteps. And awesome cinematography and insane editing! But ultimately it's all about the tone, and the tone is perfect. I just really like the balance of comedy and drama in this show, it's really special and this episode encapsulates that well. I still can't believe this show was cancelled! I hope to god another network picks up this series for a season 3 & 4, it's my favorite show and one of the best shows on right now. Highly recommended, 10/10.
