I love the show
anttee195925 September 2013
It is different in that you see the process of how they go about trying to solve cold cases. Most of the evidence is already known at the beginning of the show...because it is a cold case. I like when they go out to the crime scene and do their recreations. I guess I am intrigued by their thought processes. Of course, being from Harris County, where Kelly was a prosecutor, I know about her and Johnny Bonds. Kelly was a quick fire prosecutor and quite successful, so I like watching her in action. I do also like that they will at the beginning give an update on previous cases covered. If you're tired of the usual crime show, I think you will like this one. I hope TNT keeps the show.

Perhaps the best real crime show on TV
beren0016 February 2015
I enjoy this show best of all the many crime shows I watch. It's difficult to understand why they have had a couple of very poor reviews, but as I read those reviews I can see that the reviewers seemed upset by the strength and confidence of our female investigators. Maybe they have some problems with strong women - who knows? I know that I watch each show from start to finish with interest and enjoyment. It's great to see that not only the lady investigators but the local police and DA's who are so interested in pursuing justice for the victims and family members. I'm glad they don't drag us through every detail of their investigations but go over the highlights in a rational and illuminating manner.

Honest and systematic
Tinytinusje23 July 2016
+ Kelly Siegler & Yolanda McClary are exemplary women without any pretentious over dramatization as they take on their roles as hosts and investigators. They work well as hosts compared to many other crime programs. The fact that they are not always able to catch the perpetrator and being honest about it, plus showing the impact on the families, is a refreshingly real take on American crime shows. The systematic take on how evidence is gathered and reviewed, interviews are taken and suspects eliminated is very interesting for anyone that loves these types of crime series. Everything is very methodical and clearly put into view. - When handling real cases, showing real victims and suspects we as an audience will never know what is steered by editing and if that is morally acceptable to put on as a show which is in itself firstly for entertainment value.

Love the show
wade_jennifer-2267520 April 2015
W/o Dick Wolfe/TNT, and the ladies of "Cold Justice," all these aired cold cases would've never had any progression or motivation to solve. All would've fallen through the cracks. Suspects never caught and tried. Families would've never had answers for closure. The aired cases prove more into fowl play than missing/runaways. This show proves the majority of people don't run away. As adults, police tend to only have that answer when evidence becomes overlooked. "Cold Justice" transfers old cases extremely well to TV. Some crime do-cu-drama's can tend to be slow. Especially, when there's a lot of dialogue. Dick Wolfe has a way of making viewers tune-in without expecting filmed re-enactment's. Even cases that are w/o a crime-scene, body, or living suspect. I've been hooked since the 1st episode. I hope "Cold Justice" will make it to the 10 year mark!

Cold Justice is really simply fantastic and a good representation for women, of women
roxybell50022 February 2014
I am a huge fan of this show. Learning about each case and the way they move through the information to consider every angle is interesting. But what I find most intriguing is the psychology of everyone from the victim's families, to the detective and police offers working the case, to the suspects and of course Siegler and McClary. In this show you see law enforcement officials who really care about their community. You see the way they interact with both suspects and victim's family. You see suspects and informants that gives clues to the crime and their own complex psychology.

In the last episode I saw, a man talked about how he was offered money to kill someone else. He said that if it wasn't for the fact that he was in jail that night instead, he would have killed that person. He said he was really glad he was in jail that night. And I just thought that was so interesting in terms of the choices we make at different parts of our lives and how we have the ability to change.

In a day and age where Desperate Housewives with celebrity blood lust and too much money let their immature behavior reign, this is a much needed reprieve from the kind of women we see crowding TV. I'm tired of seeing women who behave badly. I am tired of the obsession with everything Kradashian. I'm tired of shows like Bridezilla and the Bachelor where women act catty, shallow and selfish. This show shows two women who are nothing but genuine in their quest for justice and to help people. Despite how other posters reviewed the ladies, I don't think they are smug at all. I find them kind, sensitive, intelligent..truly good examples of women, for women.

I don't need to see lots of blood and chase scenes and gore to find something to have value. People always complain about how reality TV isn't "real". I think this is pretty darn close to being pretty real.

What is REALLY important to you?
mindprojections9 January 2014
Give me a car chase! Guns! Fast pace pursuits through dark woods! and most importantly.. BLOOD! O_O

What is really important, that the show isn't fast pace/doesn't get your blood pumping/not enough drama, or the fact that these guys are giving an effort to catch killers that are currently running free?

Seriously though, even if they spend an entire season to catch JUST ONE murderer that is running free, isn't that worth it?! Also, not to mention the emotional comfort that a, "hey, your loved ones hasn't been forgotten," gives to families affected by these horrible crimes.

True, not all of the cases are open-shut.. BECAUSE THEY HAVE BEEN COLD FOR YEARS! This is all currently happening! in real time! There is no "2 Years Later" transition effect! What this show does is put that spotlight right back where it should be.

I seriously doubt any of the people sitting behind a computer criticizing these efforts can say,"I put a killer behind bars, and finally brought a long awaited resolution to a family that had lost hope." Maybe some could say,"I saved a dog from eating chocolate!" or "I stopped a baby from swallowing a lego piece once!" Which, cool, really, both scenarios would have me totally pumped. I personally saved my turtle when I was 7.. he had climbed out of his tank and taken refuge under our mini fridge! Lost for DAYS.. He was so dehydrated an malnourished when I found him.. :( but I never gave up looking for him! :D Still though.. not as cool as catching someone that brutally murders people.. :/

I really hope this show gets the recognition it deserves.. some people should really reevaluate what they value as "good TV".

Great show!
jonathanmills8831 January 2022
Shows the viewer some very disturbing and sad crimes, whilst treating the victims with respect and celebrating their life. There is good case building and reconstructions which come to a logical conclusion in identifying/verifying the perp (when there is one! / one can be identified).

Kelly and her team work very well together and all genuinely care for the victims whilst striving to put the chosen cold cases to bed. A special shout out to Johnny Bonds who is a real character!

Long may this show continue!

Most unique fascinating true crime
belleverite3362610 August 2020
Kelly really is amazing. I've watched this show 2x and remember how much I was obsessed when it was still coming in the air. Sadly now I can only find the 2nd and 3rd Season which I bought on iTunes way back in the day. Now there's nowhere to find it. I've never seen 4th or 5th season. And season 1 unavailable as well. Huge shame!

Great show
If you love true crime shows this one is a must.

Glad to know there's people out there working on cold cases and trying to get Justice .

That said I have to say that it is scary that someone can get arrested on circumstantial evidences... as much as you might know someone did it , it really bothers me that in most cases there's no real proof!

This show just gets ppl excited for NTN
nicolereyes-6815720 December 2023
I started watching this show thinking yes finally these cold cases will get solved or after all this time n so much technology they can't go wrong. Wrong. They don't haul ppl into interrogation rooms they do the interrogation in their cars they never ask ppl to take polygraphs. They know certain ppl r guilty, yet can't prove it so they go on free. I think they should just leave the families to grieve Nd stop digging up these cases only to not solve them! Close friends of the killers know smtn but they just don't bother to question them anymore they just take IDK ANYTHING,for an answer .. absolutely waste of time to watch.

Small Towns Shenanigans Look Out
murnenjm19 October 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Do you have any idea how much BullSh*t goes down in a small town Police Department where they've been buddies with the perps/suspects and hold vendettas against others because the wedgied their brother in 5th grade? (A Lot)

This show destroys the nonsense of town politics and take objective looks with current technology to put murderers in prison. Not just criminals, MURDERERS. You don't want these people free in the world.

Thank you for doing what you do. Also entertaining and fun to watch with your spouse in a who/done-it type circumstance.

My very favorite true crime show. I end up comparing all shows to this one. Absolutely love Kelly and her team members.

Wish it was easier to find ALL episodes, but it seems like only some seasons and certain episodes are available.

Simply Wonderful..
phwagz-4669121 November 2023
This show has legs and Kelly Sigler is a formidable talent when it comes to putting the pieces of these unsolved homicides into a coherent and compelling narrative. As the brother of a homicide victim I would have given my soul to have had this team of detectives involved in the investigation of the murder of my brother. There are cops who are "detectives " by nature and there are cops who simply wear the badge and despite their good intentions they simply do not have the analytical skills necessary to make a case. This team of detectives follows the dictum that if it quacks like a duck .. it's a duck! No liberal pandering around issues that today might raise a few eyebrows. Great detectives, fantastic show . Keep up the great work!

Real Justice Finally for Victims
savannahnwyc3 November 2023
Kelly and her teams are AMAZING! She really is a dynamic charismatic women who pursues justice for the victims who's pain is so raw. Too many times the focus is on criminals and their rights. It's great to have a show that focuses in on the victims and their families. We need more people like Kelly in this world. As someone who lives in the aftermath of a family member being murdered I cannot tell you how rewarding it is to see these cold cases chased down and the murderers locked up where they belong. They lived free for sometimes decades thinking they got alway with murder. Congratulations to Cold Justice for what they are truly doing for families to bring closure, finally.

Absolutely love Kelly and this show!!
serenamichael5 January 2023
I have so much respect for Kelly and her team. They have changed the lives of so many people with their hard work. The only thing I have to complain about is that it is impossible to fine all seasons to watch. I cannot even find it to buy. Keep doing what yall are doing !! Please find a way for us to watch all seasons. The only season available anywhere is season 6. I would like to watch the other 5. This has got to be my favorite show and I watch alot . I have searched everywhere for blu-ray or DVD also to no avail. Not even on Amazon and I thought Amazon had everything. On Amazon prime it says not available to every single episode.

Interesting and concise
UppittyDown14 March 2024
I'm possibly unusual as a viewer in that I don't enjoy crime shows or anything violent really, they give me nightmares.

However, this show is a fascinating insight into crime solving. Although the stories are sad, so many victims of domestic violence ignored for years, the way these women approach investigations is really interesting.

For me, as a social researcher, particularly the interviews are fascinating, how they read between the lines and manage to triangulate all the responses with others and evidence. It's a fascinating insight into small communities etc too.

I might have stumbled across this show completely accidentally but really enjoy it, the format is crisp and to the point and it's great to see strong women at the top of their fields so well depicted.

This is NOT a "reality" show.
dianan-154275 February 2021
It is a REAL show. I love this show! Why? Because it doesn't keep recapping ALL the details after a commercial break, but wait! There's more. I've noticed that you actually see the "stars" of the show (who really aren't, nor do they act as if they are) doing the actual work such as taking notes, and talking to witnesses, etc. It's little things that some people may not recognize, but, in my professional opinion is just not scripted. Do they have to edit it to keep it moving along or seem less dull and boring as the day to day work really is? Of course they do, but Kudos to Dick Wolf, and everyone involved in this show for putting the money out there so Kelly Siegler and the teams she assembles to do this work can help these places that otherwise have to allow killers walk free for years due to lack of money and resources, and a lot of times enough expertise. (One town I recall only averaged 1 murder a year. How much expertise might they have had?) She helps people. The investigation teams in whatever town they're in AND, the people left behind by the never ending ripple affect caused by murder. I was aware of Kelly Siegler long before this show. I had been aware of her reputation prior to this, but hadn't really been exposed to her personality or methods. Now, though, I'm a fan. She reminds me of my mentor who also happened to be a tough, strong, yet human Texan not afraid or apologetic about doing what she does or how she does it. While my mentor and I didn't always agree on politics or certain ideologies, per se, we both had respect and care for one another in the end and the end goals in our jobs and life were the same. Her humanity really shows in some of these shows and you can really see her relief when she gets to tell a family the good new or her regret if they aren't quite there yet. It is a real show.

Too Soon To Come to a Conclusion
PartialMovieViewer27 October 2013
Warning: Spoilers
The CSI person is an excellent idea, but a prosecutor - without a defense perspective - well - something kind of stinks. Talk about being lopsided - I can see where this show could easily spiral into nothing more than a weekly witch-hunt. I may be wrong, but I have a problem with a prosecutor who has a perfect conviction record. That - in itself - should raise some viewer questions at least. Now I do have my doubts, but at the same time, I may change my spots...it usually does. I may be completely wrong and this show may turn out to be a real keeper. Both characters seem to be intelligent, interesting and competent. I do like the pace of the show. The tempo is typical of any reality-TV, which is fine. There is one thing that really will turn me off though. Will this show result in a weekly conviction? I will walk away. Come on, there are plenty of innocent people in prison who were victims of perfect prosecutor records. I am skeptical of the existence of ghosts and perfect records.

Compelling
mizzkitty-428617 October 2023
Cold Justice is an extremely compelling show. I'm not 100% sure I like Ms. Siegal as a prosecutor (she's committed prosecutorial misconduct in a highly controversial and complex murder case years ago. She with held important evidence from a suspect's defense team which had a major impact on the outcome of the defendant's trial. I believe the defendant was eventually granted a new trial. The defense team was then able to show there was reasonable doubt. The conviction was over turned and the defendant was set free. Not sure if he was exonerated or not but we was released from prison after serving years in prison. However, in this show casts a new light on her. She portrays someone who''s dogged and determined to get justice for the loved ones who feel they've been forgotten in their plight to get justice for the person who no longer has a voice. That determination and grit is nicely tempered with genuine compassion and empathy. Even though the show doesn't tour a cast of all star journalists/reporter/narrators the likes of Dateline. It still moves at a good clip. It doesn't take 30 minutes to explain something that could have taken 5 - 10 minutes. British crime docu-series are NOTORIOUS for taking an hour to explain something that could have been depicted in less than half of that time.

Just inventing a fun narrative...
xo-pooch-ox7 February 2020
I watched the first episode of season 1, but gave up after that. I could not take it seriously. If I had to guess, I would say there was 85% chance the guy (Ronnie Hendrick) was guilty, but people shouldn't be convicted based on a feeling. The investigation produced no new evidence, as far as I could tell; they just developed a new narrative about what happened, based on inconsistencies in the suspect's story, and pretended like this was a breakthrough. It wasn't. That's not how this works. Human memory is unreliable at the best of times, and to suggest otherwise is irresponsible. The show is more disinformation than documentary. I can't speak to the following episodes, because it didn't seem worth my time to continue, but I certainly hope they're not all this bad. It's really just boring fiction.

If he was guilty, fine, that doesn't surprise me, but how did they actually prove it?

Also, if there is any chance you could be a suspect, please remember to STFU. Even if you are innocent. Especially if you are innocent! The right to remain silent exists to protect the innocent, not the guilty, and you need to exercise that right, or this is the standard of evidence that might put you away.

Cheap trash
wackypack5 March 2023
I'm 100% in support of EVERY show on the OXYGEN channel except this one where I cant change the channel fast enough! Lame cheap green screened backgrounds, constant hugging and hand shaking, boring meetings, ridiciliious gung-ho fake attitudes, dumb "back seat" camera work, phoney banter, etc. The other 1 star reviews explain it better. This trash feels like those pathetic "chasing _____" whatever topic like hitler, storms, monsters, etc. That never really solve or find ANYTHING!! Take your true crime shows seriously and avoid this nonsense, there are over a thousand Dateline episodes that will make much better use of your time......
