With Aquaman finally coming to the big screen, a mere 75 years after his comic debut, DC now has to make the Atlantean hero interesting and entertaining to casual fans, as well as comic readers. They have a lot of damage to undo since Aquaman’s image has suffered over the years. Here are 5 ways that Zack Snyder and Jason Momoa can make the King of the Seas cool again.

Since then, he’s been seen in several animated series, most notably the Filmation studios Superman/Aquaman Adventure Hour in 1967, and the Super Friends (1973-82). He’s also appeared in live-action form in Smallville, and the pilot film for a TV series, Aquaman: Mercy Reef, starring Justin Hartley. Now he’s making his way to the big-screen.

Refresh for latest… Here’s a list of theaters confirmed to be showing Sony’s The Interview on Christmas Day after the studio worked with indie chains on a release plan finalized this morning. The venues have a deadline of 6 Pm Pt today to decide whether to run the movie on December 25, as Sony must send theaters the movie hard drives in time to make Christmas Day screenings. Some theaters are booking the film for later in the month or into January, so that deadline isn’t looming as large. As of 4 Pm, more than 200 theaters had signed on.
This is all happening fast so this list will continue to grow. We’re hearing that there are still internal discussions among art houses about whether to add the pic to their schedules, with security and previous commitments among the concerns. Exclusive: As Charles Manson gears up for his behind-bars nuptials to a young follower named Star, a February shoot has been set for long-gestating indie drama Manson Girls. Susanna Lo is directing the film about the female devotees who joined Manson’s flock in the 1960s and helped carry out brutal killings meant to start an apocalyptic race war. Bill Moseley (The Devil’s Rejects) will portray Manson in the film, which TriCoast Worldwide boarded this month at Afm.

Prepare for one twisted family gathering on Arrow when Oliver travels to Corto Maltese in search of Thea (Willa Holland) — and finds more than he bargained for — in Wednesday’s episode (The CW, 8/7c).
“He knows very little about what she’s done [during the past five months] other than that she has lied about where she is,” Arrow‘s leading man Stephen Amell previewed during a recent set visit. “Oliver calls her on that immediately.”
As the hour’s flashbacks reveal, his little sis has spent quite a bit of time with her biological father Malcolm Merlyn (John Barrowman), and she’s got the new skills to prove it.

I have to admit that I’m a fan of ABC Family in general, and there aren’t many of their original shows that have let me down, but their holiday efforts are among my favorite television “events,” and it’s closing in on Halloween again. The 16th Annual 13 Nights of Halloween is starting in a month and a day, and you should make sure you have your calendar marked with all the opportunities.
It is slightly repetitive, and a little Tim Burton heavy (if there is such a thing for an event centered around Halloween), but the programming has become a real tradition, and there are three shows with Halloween specials, and a reality prank program in the mix. Plus, you’ve obviously got all your Halloween staples to enjoy, and a good mix of your favorites and new entries.

Updated: A torpid start to the market coupled with concerns over the desirability of acquisition titles has left buyers looking expectantly towards reportedly a $10m-plus deal for Top Five.
By Sunday evening a growing number of buyers were circling Chris Rock’s adult comedy (pictured), arguably the only potentially commercial available title to earn universal praise.
Also drawing attention were François Girard’s Boychoir, Jalmari Helander’s Big Game, Noah Baumbach’s While We’re Young, Thomas McCarthy’s The Cobbler and Ed Zwick’s Pawn Sacrifice.
Acquisitions teams have also seen Lone Scherfig’s The Riot Club, Paul Bettany’s directorial debut Shelter, Michael Douglas starrer The Reach and Kristen Wiig starrer Welcome To Me. Contrary to reports Sophie Barthes’ Madame Bovary remains on the table and had not been sold at time of the updated report on Sunday afternoon.

Exclusive: In a bid to drive acquisitions, Toronto top brass are understood to be collaborating with select sales agents to allow festival staff and volunteers to attend four early-stage private buyers screenings.
Screendaily has learned the move is being orchestrated to replicate the buoyant atmosphere of public screenings in an effort to stir up sales.
The timing of the move is dictated by a growing recognition that most decision-makers at distribution companies will have left town by the time these films officially premiere in the second week, despite Toronto’s efforts to spread its riches across the duration of the festival.
That strategy was informed in part by the festival’s new and well documented policy of holding back until the second week premieres of anticipated films that will receive their actual world premiere in Telluride.
Two cases in point are North American premieres of The Weinstein Company’s Benedict Cumberbatch starrer The Imitation Game and Fox...

A slew of classic Disney movies are hitting for the first time on Blu-Ray, including one double-pack release, and you’re going to want to make sure to pick these up. You haven’t paid attention to some of these titles for a while, and it’s about time you got the chance to catch them on Blu-Ray. The best part is that there’s a great mix of releases hitting. Bedknobs and Broomsticks is all but lost in the cultural consciousness, and it deserves a return. The Academy Award-winning movie from the year I was born is filled with a lot of fun and adventure, and like most Disney films, holds up well for a whole new generation.
The rest of the group covers a great spectrum, including two animated “big” titles, and a 10th Anniversary release. There’s a lot to expose your family to here, so check out all the info below,...

Not too long ago, we were all living in the New Millennium, less affectionately known as the age of Y2K. Or if you want to be technical about it, it was the first decade of the 21st century. And during those 10 years, pop culture thrived. Not only did Nipplegate change the way we looked at Super Bowl halftime shows, but things like Laguna Beach made us rethink “reality,” Heath Ledger’s performance in The Dark Knight redefined the term “Oscar-worthy,” and Glee revived the television musical.

Patrick has a heady reunion with his father, and Emily‘s Soap Opera Blackouts continue.
Here are five highlights:
Everyone Has An Angle
And this was my favorite.
That’LL Need A Few Stitches
Okay, I’ve been putting this off, but I can deny it no longer. Patrick is f*cking nuts. I was willing to overlook a few things (i.e. bludgeoning Nolan, cutting brake lines, wearing clothes), but it’s pretty clear Patrick’s got a screw loose. And that’s not the context I want when I write “Patrick” and “screw.”
While Victoria and Conrad are enjoying a breakfast of eggs benedict and seething hatred, a maid rushes in to tell her there’s been a fire at the art gallery. After beating the maid about the head and arms for a few minutes, Victoria rushes off to find Patrick at the now gutted gallery,...

In the lead-up to the 86th annual Academy Awards on March 2, HitFix will be bringing you the lowdown on all 24 Oscar categories with multiple entries each day. Take a few notes and bone up on the competition as we give you the edge in your office Oscar pool! Of all craft categories, Best Film Editing is the one most closely tied to the Best Picture race: nominees from the latter category invariably dominate the former, and as pundits are so fond of reminding everyone, no film has won the top prize without a corresponding editing bid since 1980. That's no quirk or accident, given how heavily editing interacts with script and performance, and though Best Picture no-shows occasionally triumph here (like surprise victor "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" two years ago), that won't be happening this year. Five Best Picture nominees make up the field, and I strongly suspect they'd...

Denise Gold has flown halfway around the world to watch - with tens of millions of others - her daughter, Gracie Gold, compete at the 2014 Winter Games in Sochi. Gold, 18, already dazzled on the Olympic ice with her performance in the team event and helping the Americans win bronze. On Wednesday, she begins (with her short program) in what many consider to be the Games' main event - the ladies' individual figure skating competition. So what's a mother to do? If you're Denise, you check out the local sights, look for those Black Sea porpoises (that "everyone" but you has...

NBC’s primetime Tuesday coverage of the Olympics was filled with chilly thrilling spills, as crazy weather bedeviled crazier sports. The women competing in the Alpine Giant Slalom faced rough terrain, while the men competing in Snowboard Cross faced rough terrain and the fact that Snowboard Cross is basically a demolition derby without any safety protocols. Summer Olympians Lolo Jones and Lauryn Williams crossed over into a whole new weather pattern, competing in the Women’s Bobsled (or “Bobsleigh,” as they call it in Westeros.)

Lena Dunham didn’t have “the shield of nudity” to protect her at Tuesday night’s Alone Together At Last: Lena Dunham and David Sedaris joint reading, but she started roughly adjacent to her comfort zone with the claim that her mother, Laurie Simmons, “invented the selfie.” The Girls auteur, who was admittedly nervous at the start of the Carnegie Hall gig, went on to envision her mother snapping old-school film of her “butt and unshaved armpits (a look I really regret knowing that my father enjoys),” which she noted, “wasn’t as simple as swinging your iPhone around and...

Mere days after the Marvel Studios assembly line released the trailer for next year’s intriguing Captain America sequel-slash-shield spinoff, 20th Century Fox just debuted the first complete teaser for X-Men: Days of Future Past, the franchise-binding sequel-prequel. Clowns, prom, pets, and family getaways have two things in common: we’re supposed to feel safe about them and, because of Stephen King, we don’t. So sit back and relax as Sound on Sight explores the five most frightening screen adaptations of Stephen King for the 31 Days of Horror.

There's an old joke that states the only thing left alive after nuclear war will be cockroaches and Cher, and we believe that. Cher can't be... won't be stopped. She's currently providing mentoring for Blake Shelton's team on "The Voice," and she's also been in the news recently for dissing Miley Cyrus and her tongue. Oh, and big shock, she has a new album out and she's going on tour.
All of these things make us extremely happy. More Cher on TV is a good thing. Always and forever, more Cher. Say what you will about this woman, she's a survivor. She's been in show business for almost 50 years. Five-zero. We love her. And you should too. Here are the reasons why.

Another 25 unsung greats come under the spotlight, as we provide our pick of the underappreciated films of 1995...
The year covered in this week's underrated movie rundown was significant for a number of reasons. It was the year that saw the release of Toy Story - the groundbreaking movie that would cement Pixar's reputation as an animation studio, and set the tempo for CG family movies for the next 18 years and counting. It was the year that saw James Bond (played by Pierce Brosnan for the first time) emerge for GoldenEye after a six-year break. It was also the year of Michael Mann's Heat, Dogme 95, and the moment where Terry Gilliam scored a much-deserved hit with 12 Monkeys.
As ever, we're focusing on a few of the lesser-known films from this particular year, and we've had to think carefully about what's made the cut and what hasn't.

Enter! Stranger! Knightmare is back. Yes, you heard correctly, the bizarre and slightly sinister children's TV classic is returning for a one-off special episode online. Treguard fans rejoice.
Digital Spy is celebrating the return of Knightmare by picking out seven other vintage kids' gameshows that we'd love to see return.
1. Fun House (1989 - 1999 on Citv)
"Wacky! Fun! Crazy! It's outrageous!" Five words that had a whole generation of kids dropping their Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles sticker collection in an instant. Pat Sharp's Fun House was the defining kids' gameshow of the '90s, blending gunge, ball pools, two hot twins and a man with an awful mullet and serving up 25 minutes of giddy tomfoolery. And we still really want a go on the Go-Karts.
2. Finders Keepers (1991 - 1996 on Citv)

Rob clearly could not get over Kristen’s cheating! Sources close to him now reveal that one of the reasons he’s fallen for Riley is that he feels he can trust her. Plus, we know what else he likes about her!
Kristen Stewart apologized for cheating on Robert Pattinson with her Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders in July 2012. Sadly, the trust was irrevocably broken and their relationship, post-cheating scandal, was short-lived. Now, after splitting with Kristen in May, Rob’s reportedly dating Riley Keough, an actress and Elvis Presley’s granddaughter — someone who he believes won’t cheat on him.

We are now officially half way through the year and so I’ve asked our staff to vote for their favourite films released thus far. Hollywood blockbusters may have disappointed us, but thankfully we can always rely on independent filmmakers to create some truly inspiring films. Rounding out the special mentions is Terrence Malick’s To The Wonder, Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel, and Cate Shortland’s Lore – all missing the cut by a couple of points.

#15: Iron Man 3 (24 points)
Directed by Shane Black
Written by Drew Pearce & Shane Black
USA, 2013
