Sex & Nudity

  • In the DLC XCOM: Enemy Within, an outline of a human woman can be seen in the genetic modification menu.

Violence & Gore

  • Players and enemies can be killed, and there is a little blood. One enemy releases a cloud of gas upon death. The player can perform autopsies on aliens, but the innards are obscured and only "goo" can be seen. Players can be impaled, shot, bloodied and blown up.
  • In the DLC pack XCOM: Enemy Within, you can genetically modify troops, and turn a human into a human with a robot body, but this process is not shown.

Profanity

  • The game has occasionally strong swear words when the player is hit, including "fuck," "shit," and "asshole." You don't hear it often, but the profanity is strong. There is voice chat on the online section of the game.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Some missions have the player rescuing civilians from aliens. All throughout these missions, the player hears distant screams.
  • There can be jumpscares if an alien jumps out at the player. There are zombies, and the player can be turned into one of these.
