Another installment in the Screen Tests by Mr. Andy Warhol, this entry presents one of his stars Paul America, best remembered for his roles in "My Hustler" where he
plays a male hustler and "Ciao Manhattan". I like the series since it allows viewers to deeply analyze each actor/actress/personality, their faces and expressions, and
even try to imagine what's happening in front of them since they act and react in certain ways almost as if the director is telling to act or express variations with their
faces. The results vary from actor to actor, some are really interesting to see, others aren't so fascinating but they all work on their own way.
America is presented peacefully chewing a gun, the left half of his face is lit while the right half is obscured, sometimes appearing here and there, and can see the totality of his face, blonde hair and that shy smile he gives us from time to time. He had quite a striking face, very beautiful and slightly resembling actor Bruce Payne, somewhat mysterious. And to make things more interesting, he's very expressive and charming, which contributes to make of this test one of the best Mr. Warhol did in the series. Doesn't get near the impact of the ones made with Lou Reed or Dennis Hopper which allows them to go deep into acting mode despite the everlasting close-up those tests consists but it has some appeal just like the one with Richard Rheem, it's all in their eyes. Very good. 7/10.
