Maybe there will be a good finale after this, but "Im Keller" is yet another very weak episode of the series

There were times in "Im Keller", "Braunschlag"'s penultimate episode, that I asked myself why I was still watching this weird, idiotic, unfunny, and feel-bad series. But while the revelation in the last couple of minutes didn't entirely change my perception of "In the basement", as this episode's title translates to English, David Schalko managed to positively surprise me for the first time in a long time while watching "Braunschlag".

The topic he addresses with this is something the Austrian population isn't going to forget in the near future, as some atrocious crimes that have recently terrified the country are immediately evoked with this story arc. Was it a good idea to choose it? I can't yet tell as I'm unsure how the series's last episode is going to solve it, but for now, it at least sparked my interest. However, I sure do hope that Mr Schalko isn't going to deploy his incredibly morbid humour (the Matussek part of this episode was actually too much for my taste) with such a most delicate subject.

The rest of "Im Keller" was as dull as the last three episodes and didn't bring me to smirk at any occasion. Perpetually, there is room for audiences to be embarrassed by the unlikeable on-screen characters and besides Elfi's stylish dream, there isn't even an attempt to make it look appealing. All in all, this is another poor episode, but at least brought me to look forward to the series finale to some extent.
