Somewhere, far away, scientists were working on a magic pill, rumored to make pregnancy a case of choice, not chance. News of it reached us as from another galaxy. Meanwhile, other scientists were striving to send humans to the moon. To the mothers of Poplar, this goal must have seemed as reachable, and likely.
Mature Jenny : It is tempting to look back and say that all women were courageous, and that we met every challenge with courage and with candor. But it was not so.
