Sad it had to end here.

The enigmatic Doctor Quirke has been receiving some help, and is warned of his excessive drinking. Phoebe is concerned for her friend, April Latimer whose been missing for some time, she persuades Quirke to investigate.

Why, oh why did they only make three of these, this glorious three part series ends in real style.

It's another great story, a production which is once again lavish, believable and exquisitely made. Packed with so many excellent moments, the best I thought being where Quirke is being entertained at dinner, and has a coupe of champagne placed in front of him.

I thought the acting was terrific, it has been from the very start, Gabriel Byrne again commanding. Really impressed as always by Colin Morgan.

It develops brilliantly, and explores Quirke's complex relationships with his daughter, brother and father. A very fine story, it ends incredibly well.

I thoroughly enjoyed it, 8/10.
