Unfinished business

A good deal of 'The Money Trap' centers on a bag of loot, and this end of things is interesting mostly because it feels like it was pulled directly from an Elmore Leonard novel (sadly, the casting of the young Miss Nevada Smith is uncharacteristically subpar), but it also recalls the at-large Jody Adair from the opener (who's turned out out be a real dick) and results in a standoff that's pure "Justified". Givens really doesn't have any fear walking into a shooting match and it really adds to his appeal as a character; in spades.

All of this feels like it's drawing out the Drew Thompson mystery, but it's anything but boring.

Poorly written

You know those movies and TV episodes where characters do stupid things or stupidly don't do things they ought to? Really obvious things that have you yelling at the TV? That sums up this episode. One of the rare poorly written 'sodes of this show.

Warning: Spoilers
Coming back to a plot line from the first episode was a good move in my opinion even though the characters were just not as interesting but the drama was great throughout the episode. After the proposal scene of last week seeing that Boyd and Ava are still in love is such a nice thing to see but hearing he know must kill someone might not be the best thing for him to do even though he has to. The best part of the episode was Raylan especially opposite Jody and his search for Jody with the new girl for Raylan tagging along. Johnny finding out Colt was responsible for so much puts him in a situation with everything Johnny is involved in. The end scene of the episode between Arlow and Raylan was also such a great scene for the episode. I have fallen off with this show for some time but with the last couple of episodes I'm starting to like the show again.

EPISODE GRADE: B (MVP: Timothy Olyphant)
