The drag queen competition returns for season 16 on MTV and many fans may be wondering how long the episodes will be.

The episodes were also paired with a new show, The Real Friends of WeHo, which aired back-to-back with Drag Race.
However, after six episodes and fan backlash, Drag Race returned to the 90-minute episode format for the remainder of the season. Later on in August, they released the full 90-minute versions of the early episodes on Paramount+.
For the Emmy award-winning competition series’ upcoming 16th season, MTV will be airing the Full 90-minute episodes!

Toto, we’re not in “Carol” anymore. Despite the major shift in LGBTQ representation over the last decade, reality television has been slow on the uptick. Sure, we have the twin crown jewels of “RuPaul’s Drag Race” and “Queer Eye,” which both came to define the gold standard of reality competition and makeover shows, respectively. But when it comes to the reality dating show — that pinnacle of heteronormative culture that’s singlehandedly keeping antiquated beliefs about relationships alive — nobody knows what to do with the queers. That’s a real oversight, especially considering that pass-around party bottoms and U-hauling lesbians know a thing or two about high-stakes drama.
While recent LGBTQ reality shows like MTV’s “The Real Friends of WeHo” and Prime’s “Tampa Baes” attempted to start their own thing, launching a new franchise is hard work, and it often doesn’t have the fanbase to sustain interest.

Paramount has all but given up on Logo, a once-groundbreaking experiment in commercial media for LGBTQ audiences, insiders told TheWrap, confirming something that’s been obvious to anyone who bothered to tune into the creatively moribund cable channel.
It’s been a slow death, starting with the loss of the channel’s signature show, “RuPaul’s Drag Race,” first to sister channel VH1 in 2017, then this year to MTV. A “federation” of websites has faded away, with the leading NewNowNext property redirected to logotv.com. The Logo brand didn’t make the jump to Paramount+, though a handful of Logo-born shows like the “Drag Race: All Stars” spin-offs now stream there.
The channel’s once-robust push for original programming ceased ages ago and layoffs have left Paramount’s LGBTQ channel gutted, with “just about no full-time employees,” one insider told TheWrap and two other individuals with knowledge confirmed.

Season 15 of RuPaul’s Drag Race featured the largest cast of queens in the show’s history, as 16 queens came together to compete for the title of America’s Next Drag Superstar and a massive grand prize of 200,000. But despite it being a larger-than-life season, much of Season 15‘s first half contained episodes that were compressed into one hour (with commercials), as opposed to the 90-minute episodes that have been the standard since Season 10. Now, after an outcry from fans, 90-minute Drag Race episodes are back.

A month after announcing shorter episodes for its 15th season, RuPaul’s Drag Race has reversed the decision and will be returning to 90-minute episodes from Friday, March 10. On Thursday, February 9, the reality competition show revealed the news on its official Twitter account, tweeting, “Get ready, racers. #DragRace returns to 90-minutes starting Friday March 10 at 8/7c on @MTV.” The change to 60-minute episodes was announced by MTV back in January in addition to a new series, The Real Friends of WeHo, which was scheduled to air in between Drag Race and Untucked. According to Deadline sources, this was done to build a “destination” night by using the hit Drag Race franchise to launch the new series. RuPaul’s Drag Race is returning to 90-minute episodes following a furious backlash by fans upset that episodes had been shortened to 60 minutes. Episodes of the hit reality competition series were 90 minutes from Season 10 to Season 14.
The show announced the change Thursday morning on its official Twitter feed. “Get ready, racers. #DragRace returns to 90-minutes starting Friday March 10 at 8/7c on @MTV.”
The initial change to the shorter episodes was announced by MTV in early January. It was made to allow its newest series The Real Friends of WeHo, to air between Drag Race and Untucked. The reason for the shortened episodes is to lean into the opportunity to build a destination night by using the existing hit franchise to launch a new series like The Real Friends of WeHo, sources close to production told Deadline at the time.

Shared via an Instagram post on Thursday, “RuPaul’s Drag Race” announced that it will return to airing 90-minute episodes beginning March 10. The Emmy winning competition series made its big jump to MTV in January and shocked and outraged its loyal fanbase with a new 60-minute format when the third episode aired on January 13. Also in a break from tradition, the sister series “Untucked” did not immediately follow the episode and instead aired a full hour after Rpdr’s conclusion.
MTV’s trimming of the “RuPaul’s Drag Race” season 15 episode length is perceived to have made room for its new series “The Real Friends of Weho,” starring “Canada’s Drag Race” host and judge Brad Goreski. That series premiered on January 20 following the fourth episode of Rpdr. It’s been airing in the 9 pm slot that had been previously occupied by the additional 30 minutes of Rpdr and “Untucked” when the show aired on VH1.

Jack Antonoff has to work — he’s made that very clear. He’s busy writing for Bleachers, producing for The 1975, and singing an “Anti-Hero” remix with Taylor Swift. Somehow, RuPaul’s Drag Race viewers joked, this artist found time to compete on season 15. Here’s what fans are saying about Amethyst and her striking resemblance to the songwriter.

After two very strangely edited hour-long premiere episode, the Drag Race fandom were excited to see the newest bunch of queens try and run the gauntlet. However, there was immense outrage when people realised that instead of the just over hour-long episodes we would simply getting forty-five-minute specials which for many did not satisfy the Drag Race hole in our hearts. The reason for this shorter episode format is due to the premier of the brand new reality TV show The Real Friends of We-Ho being shown after Drag Race but strangely before Untucked airs. The cast of this show is headlined by none other than occasional drag race choreographer, singer and queer icon Todrick Hall. Generally speaking, I would say that I am somewhat of a super fan of Todrick Hall and his flamboyant/club anthems (in fact if you ever go to a nightclub with me I will...

“We’re breaking ground here,” Brad Goreski declares minutes into the series premiere of MTV’s newest unscripted drama, “The Real Friends of Weho.”
We’ve seen Goreski on our TV screens for 15 years now, from his early days as Rachel Zoe’s assistant to his stints on “Fashion Police” and “Canada’s Drag Race.” He’s still styling his celebrity clients. He’s still happily married to Gary Janetti. He has a beautiful home. All wonderful things, but not groundbreaking.
“My ideal date night is pizza on Sunday,” he admits. Same, Brad, same. So why do we need to see more?
Goreski’s role appears to be the anchor for the six “Real Friends,” a group of Wehovians that includes performer Todrick Hall, actor Curtis Hamilton, CEO of Buttah Skincare Dorión Renaud, TV host Jaymes Vaughan and social media personality Joey Zauzig.
