- A sniper with two prosthetic hands is killing police officers, and McGarrett may be on his list.
- A police officer is shot while moonlighting as a funeral escort and the only clue is a shell casing that has his name engraved on it. A few days later another officer, who happened to be the former partner of the first officer, is shot and killed during a shootout. At first it is thought that the officer was killed by the criminal, but when they figure out that the officer was shot from a higher elevation and a shell casing with that officer's name found where the shot was fired, McGarrett begins to suspect that both officers were targeted by the same man. Also, a few days later someone takes a shot at Steve he figures out that the killer is Curt Stoner, who blamed the two officers as well as Steve's dad and Duke for the loss of his hands in an attempted bank robbery. Unfortunately, Duke is shot and seriously wounded by Stoner, and because Steve's father is dead is now targeting the younger McGarrett.—Brian Washington <Sargebri@att.net>
- Steve is shocked that 'uncle' Ben Keoki, a friendly youth neighbor and police mate of his late father, was killed by a sharpshooter who engraved the bullet case with his name. To the whole PD's horror, Keoki's precinct superior Troy Ookala is next, during a shooting as a petty drug thug resists arrest with a matching custom-made weapon. Steve and Danny respond to an arms smith who provides custom ammunition for it, actually a trap by the sharpshooter, who strangled a passer-by just to have access to a perfect position. After he gets away from his drowned car and abandons his prosthetic arm, forensics and Syeve work out it's the work of a recently paroled bank robber who lost both hands while Steve's father arrest him in the act.—KGF Vissers
