One of the best...

Warning: Spoilers
By now, I can't really say if this episode was on my top 3, right after Founder's Day and Ghost World, but I can say that it's one of the best episode that showed yet. I was afraid the series wouldn't keep on being amazing, but I was wrong. Season 4 may lack some realism and emotions in its storyline, but this particular episode was so emotionally powerful I just can't pass through it. Nothing spectacular really happens in this one, it's more about living the fact that Jeremy died. Nina Dobrev is simply riveting in her most powerful performance yet, particularly in the scene where she loses her mind and threatens to burn the house. I also loved how the screenwriter made Damon such a good person, when he decides to let go of his feelings for Elena and tells her to turn off her humanity to stop her sufferings. It was just amazing. Incredible. I'm speechless.

Burn it all down!

Warning: Spoilers
That's pretty much the show runners and writers message sent to viewers, now that we know how it will all play out. Emotional episodes like these, don't have an impact anymore, because from this point on, the show will be chasing its own tail and canceling itself, and every single one of its former storylines, to fit this new vision. Elena, the one most likely not becoming everything she hated about vampires, turns her humanity switch off, because Damon said so (tell me again why her sire bond to him, don't influence her emotions?...) after Jeremy's « death » (because, you guessed it, he'll be back). Now I understand, it is a fantasy series, but even those need some kind of logic, otherwise it's just nonsense. Which is what the show has become since last year, and why it is so hard for me to revisit again. And the Silas thing? Still not making any kind of sense either...

Goodbye Jeremy

Warning: Spoilers
Stefan and Damon whisper together to discuss what happened. They look very adult-like. Stefan, Elena and Jeremy all go home while Damon stays back to look for Bonnie. Elena waits for Jeremy to come back as he is wearing his ring. The Salvatores know the ring won't work this time because he is a supernatural. Bonnie wakes up to find Shane with a fire going. He has tended to her stab wound but she is disgusted with him. Shane somehow manages to convince her that she can bring everyone back from the dead. Damon finds Bonnie stumbling out of the woods and they hug. Damon later says that during the whole plane ride, Bonnie kept talking about being able to let down the veil and have the supernatural dead come back. Dr. Fells is asked to come look at the body and she confirms he is dead. Elena gets angry until Matt comes and simply says her name. His presence is powerful. Bonnie comes home spewing out her nonsense. Caroline and Matt are shocked she would think about killing 12 innocent people. They also can't have supernaturals from the dead roaming about. April calls and Elena answers. April asks for Jeremy. Elena replies he is dead. She has finally absorbed the truth. She can smell him. Elena douses the home and is ready to set it on fire until Damon uses the sire bond to convince her to turn it off. She looks beautiful as she becomes still, turning off her grief. In the end she still chooses to light the home on fire. The Salvatores and her exit calmly.
