Nothing new.
Patient4449 November 2023
This is a project movie for sure, one that looks alright overall but brings nothing new to the table.

I think it took a lot from Terrifier instead of trying to be its own movie with its personal killer but other than that it's a really straight forward production.

It has only 60 minutes runtime but the credits end after the first 10 minutes and we get post credits that also last 10 min. So there is very little time for great things to happen.

It is a movie like many before it, one that can't be considered good in todays times because it lacks quality, suspense, thrills, it just shows a mad man going around killing people.

But I have to add, Die'ced does not look cheap. Clearly not a big budget production but the people involved here did their very best. Even the kills are filmed in such ways that they look as real as possible.

I can't recommend this one but I won't dismiss it either. It did all that it could have done.

Cheers!

It was not good, but I Kinda Liked it
lhurzele1 April 2024
People have said this was basically a cheap Terrified knock off. I get that comparison but I also don't think the Terrifier was so original as to completely avoid movies coming out after it from getting that treatment. The storyline is fine, albeit flawed, hilariously at times (i.e., the killer was accidentally released from the psych ward newscaster of a clerical error). The writing was pretty awful and the acting was the dane. The lead actress was actually decent, especially compared to everyone else. The technical aspects were pretty awful; scene transitions were often clunky, the shots seemed to change aspect ratio randomly but not by way of lense changing so much as bad DV editing resulting in people appearing smashed. Very weird. The most intolerable part though was the sound editing and rubbish. It just didn't make sense and was mixed poorly so it airways drew your attention away from the action. All that said, I found some enjoyment in this, especially for being so low budget. Same character and general "universe" but with the above issues addressed I would even say it's passable.

Missing Elements
jcrouse-0417725 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
So this movie was sub par, but I'd prefer to provide more of a critique than trash it, because I feel like certain elements could have elevated this film quite a bit. It wasn't all bad, but I'm going to start with what could have been improved.

For starters, I completely agree with those who mentioned the blatant copying of Terrifier. There is paying homage and taking influence, and then there's outright replicating the source material and this film falls into the latter category at times.

The acting was mediocre to bad, but I saw potential for a better performance in a few of the actors. I don't think any would ever become Hollywood A-Listers, but I felt like the director could have coached better performances from a few of them, allowing for a better end product.

The score felt genetic and uninspired. I doubt the budget allowed for an original score to be composed, but better music choices for certain scenes and automating the volume to rise and fall during key moments could have made a huge difference.

The cinematography wasn't all bad, but there were times where I felt like a scene was missing a cutaway shot or could have benefited from a different angle or different lighting. Overall, it only took me out of the moment a handful of times.

Now, the area I felt would have the greatest impact on the overall product. Sound design. A better sound design would have elevated this film tremendously. Even though it may not be realistic, Hollywood has trained us for decades on what a stab should sound like in a film. There were stabs that made no sound at all. The ones that did make sounds were dull and ineffective. There was a scene where a wood pallet was knocked over but it sounded more like a broom stick hit the floor. There was an incredible kill where a guys head was ripped in half, but it felt lacking because the squishing of blood and cracking of bone and everything you would expect to hear was either too quiet or not present at all. I just felt like a proper focus on sound design would have gone a long way with this film.

Now, on to what I liked about it. The Scarecrow was a cool idea for a slasher. I liked the look and the idea. There were creative kills that had great practical effects. Although an hour is a short run time for a feature, I'm glad they didn't pad it with a bunch of filler just to extend it. They told the story they wanted and didn't force it to fit an hour and a half time (or more) block.

Overall, I've seen much worse and understand the limitations of time and budget, but sometimes where you allocate that time and budget can make a huge impact on the final product.

Horrible
3cxa10 March 2024
The movie itself isn't a bad idea, a slasher scarecrow alright cool somewhat a new idea. However, it literally stole everything from Terrifier. The coffee shop scene word for word was from Terrifier honestly it's a lawsuit waiting to happen. It's one thing to be influenced by something another to completely steal from it. And don't even get me started on the acting... that was again horrendous. The movie didn't really make much sense and was incredibly anticlimactic for what's supposed to be a slasher film. I also found the use of background music to be very random and poor choice.

Overall the idea of the movie isn't bad but the execution was horrible.

Die'ced Just Doesn't Make The Cut
daresleep9 March 2024
Going in with no expectations just hoping for an enjoyable movie. Sadly there was nothing to enjoy. The acting, special effects, and story were horrible. Wanted to turn it off within the first ten minutes but figured I would finish what I started. Main character is an Art the Clown knockoff as a scarecrow, just not as likable or well done. No originality just seems to be trying to make money off the current indie horror success. They at least use practical effects, but those are poorly pulled off. This is not a movie you want to pay to watch. Instead of coming up with an original idea this is just copy of others work. An inspiration is fine, but this was just a straight ripoff. Die'ced just doesn't make the cut.

Why?
anthdavjoy12 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I will start by saying that the lead actress Eden Campbell, did a great job, in a very poorly made movie. Other actors were terrible. The SFX were actually very good and mostly well done. That is were it ends however. The sound editing was amateurish with annoying background music all but drowning out the dialogue in one scene. Then there was the weird changes in aspect ratio. How the hell did they mange that and not realise it? In the beginning while the lead girl was jogging they had here going form looking short and wide to tall and thin. That is just unacceptable. I don't know if they were trying to make this guy look like Art the Clown from Terrifier? Even possibly trying to copy the Café scene. I don't know how IMDB does their ratings because I have seen far better movies with similar scores.

Zero stars if I could!
mairedelune21 March 2024
I read that this movie was similar to terrifier but they didnt say they pretty much copied the movie! This movie was horrible though. Bad acting, and the kills sucked in my opinion.. barely enough gore for me. No storyline.. sigh I should have cut it off after the first kill but I thought it would get better. I liked the 80s look to it, but yet again another thing copied from terrifier.. down to even the music! Idk if this is supposed to be a joke or something, but it's not funny. I wish I didn't waste my damn time looking at this. I can't recommend this to anyone that is a fan of slasher films.

Half-Assed Trash
Horror-Caviar24 March 2024
A garbage film from a garbage script. Half baked, pretty much unfinished. I know because I worked on it as a crew member. The director barely directed it. Seemed more concerned about videos and photos for social media. Clearly a vanity project. The DP mostly had to direct it out of necessity to move things along. No experienced editor hired. Which is why some of the footage changes in aspect ratio, because they didn't know about de-squeezing the anamorphic footage. And didn't care to properly color grade it either. Sound is garbage because they pulled it mostly from camera instead of using the sound guy's audio. Not to mention, most of the crew hasn't even been fully paid. And we're talking since March 2023. A complete waste of time if you ask me.

Terrifier dvd ordered from Wish . Com and that's being kind.
Jester22218 April 2024
Not even sure where to start.

First the positives.

Nice clear image.

Some decent trolley shots, one very nice Drone shot.

The two main lead bro and Sister acting was quite good considering what had to work with.

This is obviously a very low budget film and I congratulate anyone that can get off your ass to get one made. I feel with a better script (this was terrible) the director may have potential.

Every shot was of course totally unoriginal, stolen from better slashers but he tried.

The script was so full of holes you could drive through them. Each scene had huge flaws and some made zero sense at all.

Pointless music over scenes were unnecessary and at times drown out dialogue.

The guy playing the escaped mental patient (sigh!! How original) was massively inept. Zero acting skills and the worst Art the Clown impression ever. The little skips he did were puzzling and embarrassingly camp. Zero menace.

The kills were so badly choreographed. No tension or feeling it was real or brutal at all. Found myself rolling my eyes at the inept way they were portrayed. They at least attempted to be gory but simply pointlessly cutting and arm or hand off really isn't that satisfying. Especially a cheap Halloween prop.

Why was the first guy killed putting on make up when it was the night 'before' Halloween??

The father and his constant bellyaching and out of the blue "oh he may have killed your mother" dropped into conversation!? Worst dialogue. Who wrote this script it's so bad.

They stop in a cafe for a drink and food, maybe this was one of the films sponsors and they had to film there because it was a totally pointless scene. And of course yet another rip off of Terrifier. She says she is starving and they order a sandwich and a croissant. Neither of them touch them .....probably because the waiter keeps coming over and hassling them asking if everything is good and enjoying the meal!? Go away!?

They leave and this then leads to a pathetic attempt at humour which failed. And was another Art the Clown (Mime really) from Wish . Com rip off.

Luckily the two siblings were good enough actors to save a couple of scenes. But it was so unnatural conversations. Purely just to drop plot context in as quick as possible as needed some sort of plot. (There is very little plot at all) The mother having an affair and then going missing. And then we are supposed to be shocked at the end with the supposed twist. That made me laugh out loud!? Really!? Stevie Wonder would have seen that coming. Ha ha.

The cops at end just casually stroll in. Those guys must've worked for free as no way they are actors in real life as terrible. Where was their direction. Where was the realism. Surely the director could see that was a mess.

Editing was all over the place. The so called party looked like a snooze fest. They were bored as soon as hey got there !?

Why was he struggling to get between the pallets when she got thrown them easily and he is actually skinnier than her!? And you could see he had lots of room. How do you look at that scene in editing and not think the same? You are seeing exactly the same thing we are.

The director tried, bless him. Got to give him that. So I'll give him an extra point for that but there is no originality at all and the stealing from Terrifier is cringe. Especially as it's done so poorly. He works hard constantly posting his posters and links to the film in every Horror group on social media. So credit for putting the hours in. But it's nothing if when they go look at it they see this mess.

Luckily I saw it for free. I'd never pay for this. It's about 45mins long without the credits. And it just left me shaking my head. Laughing at the clearly rubber sledgehammer used repeatedly. So I guess he'll return and they'll have to say he's supernatural because no one could survive what happened to him. Sadly he did. So the world will be subjected to another film.

I really hope he has learned some valuable lessons. Get a decent script. Learn how to edit and leave a scene that works and isn't illogical.

This shouldn't have been released like this. It looked rushed. Zero script or story that made sense.

So unoriginal. Blatantly stolen cash in character.

He told me the next one will have bigger budget. Well. It wasn't the budget that made this so bad. I can forgive budget restraints. But not illogical scenes and bad scripts. Lazy gore when was promised carnage. He obviously lied because wanted us to see it and many have. Doesn't mean they liked it.

Which judging by the score they didn't.

You only get one chance at things and I hope for his sake he didn't blow it by rushing this poor effort out. Tarnishs names.

Sadly this is Pooh Blood and Honey level trash.

Kinda had 80s feel slasher style, I do recommend this movie! If u like gore you'll love Di'ced trust me. The humor the gore the acting was on point. The killer reminded me of the Terrifier clown a bit because of his mannerisms, he was bad ass! Movie keeps a study pace keeps you thinking. It's a great popcorn Saturday night kinda movie, I wouldn't recommend this one the kids tho! But enjoy this gore fest from Jeremy Rudd. I look forward to other tidbits from Mr. Rudd. Next Horror Villain
fvvtsky13 March 2024
This is what I call a good slasher film. It's captured all the essence of a 80's & 90's horror classic. Even though it's a short film. It's packs a punch, keeps the viewers engaged & wanting more. Good quality, sound & production. The atmosphere sets the tone for the dark and eerie moments that gives the audience that horror experience. Interested to see more from this new horror villain & where the director takes us going forward. If you're a horror movie lover, give this a look and check it out. Looking forward to seeing more & hopefully big names James Wan or Jason Blum spot's & support this film ! Good job guys!

Return of the Scarecrow Trope
jaymeschmitt-8286914 March 2024
Die'ced was an unexpected surprise.

With traces of Terrifier influenced throughout, it seems to be a more soft version of the concept.

(Sorry to those expecting a bedroom type scene.) Benjamin is enjoyable when he tries to be funny but the blend of "haha" funny and "deadly" serious isn't quitr there yet. Although it has time to blossom and mature.

The characters are a little stiff but you don't watch low budget horror movies expecting an Oppenheimer performance. You know what you're getting into.

As an indie filmmakers myself, I can appreciate and respect anyone who has the time, patience and love to dedicate years of their life to making a movie. So do yourself a favor and go check out Die'ced.

Good find
fitzhugh-5039014 March 2024
As I settled into my nightly routine of aimlessly scrolling through my phone while the TV droned on in the background, I stumbled upon a horror movie that caught my eye. Intrigued, I decided to let it play, expecting little more than the usual run-of-the-mill thriller. However, within just 15 minutes, I found myself unexpectedly engrossed.

As a self-proclaimed movie buff, I'm always on the lookout for films that break the mold, and this one did just that. What immediately struck me was the impeccable quality of the production and the attention to detail in the lighting and cinematography. In an era saturated with generic-looking content, this movie stood out like a beacon of originality.

But it wasn't just the visual aesthetics that impressed me. The storyline was gripping, weaving together elements of suspense and terror in a way that kept me on the edge of my seat throughout. And the performance of the main actress was nothing short of stellar, drawing me deeper into the narrative with her compelling portrayal.

In a landscape dominated by streaming giants like Netflix, it's refreshing to discover hidden gems like this one. I wholeheartedly recommend giving it a watch, especially since it's available on Tubi, where you can experience its thrills and chills firsthand. Trust me, this is one horror movie you won't want to miss.

For those who like gory slash-'em-ups, this one brings the goods
baccaruda17 March 2024
Let me start by saying that as I have gotten older, I am not nearly the aficionado of horror films that I once was. When I was a kid, I LOVED them, but these days it seems as if the genre has run out of steam. That said, there is plenty to like with "Die'ced". The film is well-shot and looks crisp and professional, which often eludes many indie film makers. In addition, the SFX are quite good for an indie film and far better than what I normally see in low-budget thrillers. The SFX team went to great lengths to create interesting scenarios, which I also appreciated. The run time of this film is VERY snappy, which is also a good choice, as the plot is mainly a vehicle to deliver all those creative and graphic kill scenes. And while a few of the performances from the actors were a tad wooden (why didn't they react/scream more given their dire circumstances?), overall, this one is well-made and directed. To summarize, this a solid indie effort, and I look forward to more from Director Jeremy Rudd.
