I've never written a review for IMDb before. After watching this episode it was the first thing I thought to do. This is by far the best episode of any seth macfarlane show and could be one of my favorites of any animated show. Completely withdrawing from the sitcom format of the show, the episode follows Jeff aboard the slave ship doing anything he can to get home to his wife. I was completely caught off guard. I keep having to remind myself that the episode was only 20 minutes long as it feels as if it was 45 minutes or more. Amazing story telling, creative universe, spectatucular music (Ive been listening to "the majestic" non stop) and a new found love for a character I formally didn't care about. If I were to compare this to a movie I'd say Spirited Away. I'm running out of words to say about this episode. Wow

The best episode to ever come out of American Dad or any other Macfarlane show.

I have always preferred American Dad over MacFarlane's other great work in Family Guy, mainly because this show can go where Family Guy can not. Family Guy is the more popular of the two shows and has to keep a consistent take on itself, where as American Dad is free to experiment with more interesting ideas. This episode displays this perfectly with its imaginative setting, well timed action, and mind blowing score. I can not bring myself to describe the plot beyond "Jeff is on an alien slave ship" because I feel that it might ruin the full impact of the episode for anyone else. Jeff is a character I never really even liked on the show before this episode, he was just that generic idealist, and I was happy to see him abducted a few episodes back. Now I think he may have become my favorite character on the show. In this episode his ideals become more fleshed out and transform into a beacon of hope in the dismal ship he is on. The highlight of the episode for me however is the song "Majestic" by Wax Fang, the scene in which it appears is probably one of the best animated and gorgeous scenes that I have seen on any of MacFarlane's shows and the episode is worth seeing for the song alone. Trust me people if you watch only one episode from this show watch this one for it is beautiful, and who knows it may lead to one of MacFarlane's best spin offs ever.

I like American Dad and for a while now I have considered its probably the best effort from the Seth Macfarlane stable of TV shows.

Even so I have never reviewed an episode for IMDb before but Lost in Space with Jeff Fischer was amazing.

It drew a believable and fascinating universe (excuse the pun) in outer space and told the story of Jeff since leaving earth really well.

It took the sentimentally and softness of Jeff and exploited it very effectively and gave us some insight into Rogers history too.

This really could have a spin-off of it's own I'd be very into seeing it.

This was the finest episode of the series

I've always gotten a bad reaction from people when I say this but I still stand by it: when a cartoon has a memorable musical number in it, people tend to severely overrate the episode and consider it the best entry. I could list over a dozen examples off the top of my head but that's not the direction I want this review to head in. My point is that I consider this the best episode of the series and it has nothing to do with the song featured in it - even though it was a wonderful piece.

Lost in Space was artistic, the story was touching, and part of it was shocking to me. I never would have imagined that a Jeff-episode would have won me over so well. It's already been stated by numerous people but this episode was very imaginative. The characters and setting were creative and fascinating. The romantic plot was enjoyable - sweet but sad.

The thing that won me over the most was how Roger ended up being tied into it. I absolutely loved the "decider" episode and they took it to a whole new level with this one - the twist made me gasp. Brilliant script.

The One That I Hated...

Warning: Spoilers
I'm a fan of nearly every single American Dad episode. I can honestly say that there are no episodes that I would skip. Except, unfortunately... for this one. I find it terrible and not worth watching. After Jeff has been abducted, this episode shows him on an alien spaceship. And after twenty minutes of this, excuse my language, puke fest, I really thought that the show must be going downhill. It lowered my expectations for at least the next four episodes I saw, saying, "I'll give the show another chance, if it can redeem itself, if it can't, then at least I have the last seven and a half seasons to re-enjoy". Thankfully, the next four episodes were well where they should have been. I sadly have to give this episode the worst rating I've even given for American Dad, a 1 out of 10. If I could put 0 out of 10, I would. Don't watch this episode, it is a giant waste of time.
