- The gang moves into Infeld's beach house and Peter is quick to pursue their beautiful neighbor, Charlie (guest star Nikki Whelan). Jared and Peter must prove a veteran is alive after a clerical error wrongfully pronounced him deceased and he is poised to lose his house. Karp is increasingly concerned about Infeld's erratic behavior, which comes to a head when he befriends a Ukrainian drive-through worker and plans to marry her for a visa extension so she can pursue the American dream.—Anonymous
- We open with the Franklin, Bash, Carmen and Pindar being shown Infeld's lavish beach-front house, where they will be living for the time being.
The guys meet with Don, a man who served in Vietnam with Bash's father, and his nephew Jordan. Because of a clerical mistake, Don's been declared dead by the VFA. It's been impossible to get the mistake cleared through all the bureaucracy. Don's since missed some mortgage payments during his wife's illness and he's been foreclosed on. His house is being auctioned off that afternoon. Since they don't think King would let them take the case, the guys plan to try and buy the house themselves.
Infeld introduces Karp to an attractive young Ukrainian woman named Natalia. She's been fired from her waitressing job and is worried she'll be deported. Karp takes his uncle aside and tells him people are starting to think he's lost his mind. Infeld tells him that during his last African trip he experienced a "seismic" event and tells Karp to get Natalia her job back.
The guys plan is to stay under $65,000, the balance of Don's loan. But the very first bid is by a developer for $100,000 and they are done.
The guys tell King about Don's story. His home is set to be bulldozed that week. She is sympathetic to veteran's affair and agrees to let them spend 20 pro bono hours on the case.
Carmen learns Don's home was purchased by someone from Groody Homes. While sitting on their deck the guys spot an attractive woman fishing on the beach. Bash goes down and is shot down quickly.
The guys find a judge who is a huge fan of theirs. Ultimately he awards them a five-day injunction to resolve the situation.
It turns out the Social Security Administration was to blame for the error, not the VFA. Social Security tells the guys it will take 30 days and Don starts getting angry. The clerk then says the coroner's office is where the mistake originated.
Pindar is bothered by a statue in Infeld's home. The woman who rejected Bash, Charlie, stops by to request they not keep the party going too late. She's a kinesiologist who lives next door and has an appointment early in the morning.
Don is arrested for slashing the tires on a Groody truck parked by his home. He tells the guys he did it to get into the system. Unfortunately he's processed as a "John Doe."
Carmen thinks somebody forged Don's death certificate, saying it could never have originated with the coroner's office. Bash hurt his back helping Pindar move the statue. Carmen has learned that the Social Security clerk they met with, AJ, was sold a home by Groody at a significantly discounted rate. He's recently split with his wife Jenny so the plan is to push her for info.
Natalia isn't able to get her job. Without a great option other than leaving the country, Infeld suggests marrying her to make her a U.S. citizen. Infeld tells Karp that his African experience involved meeting a man just before he leapt to his death. Infeld has made a promise to himself to listen to people, which is how he heard Natalia's life story. Infeld drops to his knee and proposes.
Carmen drops in on a speed dating event Jenny's taking part in. Jenny tells her that AJ was spending lots of time with another woman, though he claimed it wasn't an affair.
At a firm King tells the guys Groody's CEO has threatened to get other developer clients to leave their firm. She realizes this means they're onto something, but orders to stay below the radar.
The guys file a wrongful death complaint against Groody, saying they can argue the developer contributed knowingly to Don no longer being alive on paper. Their buddy judge lets it go through.
Unfortunately for the guys a different judge is presiding over the wrongful death case. And he isn't particularly forgiving. The guys put Groody top sales rep Brenda on the stand. They ask her about selling AJ a home at a 25 percent discount but she says only "he got the better of me" and denies the charge of contributing to Don's death.
Carmen asks Charlie to stop by and work on Bash's back. She fixes him and they make some small-talk, but as she leaves it becomes clear that was purely a business visit.
Infeld and Natalia are interviewed by a pair of immigration officers. They seem to answer the questions flawlessly.
Jordan is put on the stand. Opposing counsel shows him a death benefit check he had endorsed. Don apparently told him to cash it so he could buy groceries, but the lawyer argues this means Jordan acknowledged Don's death.
At the office the guys think they made a mistake arguing wrongful death. The guys have an idea, grabbing almost simultaneously for Don's citation. Before they can leave for court, Infeld stops Franklin and asks him to marry him and Natalia.
In court Bash calls John Doe to the stand.
Just before Infeld and Natalia are married she stops the proceedings. Infeld clears the room and she tells him she doesn't want to be a citizen "this way."
Don is placed on the stand as John Doe. Bash asks him about Don and he gives his own autobiography, complete with military history and the fact both his son and wife are deceased. The home is all that's left of Don's legacy and the jury appears to be moved.
The guys end up being awarded a huge settlement from Groody. They leave King's office and head down the hall to celebrate with Don.
Charlie stops by the guys' next party. She's there with her phone number and grabs a drink.
